So with the decision taken not to build the Arena at Temple Meads will this be our chance to join up with YTL and build a new stadium alongside a new music arena at Filton???

Just to be clear, he [Marvin] hasn't chosen to build at Filton instead of Arena Island. He's chosen to not build at all. Filton was, and still is, a pipe dream: No design. No planning app. No contractor. No roads. No land surrounding the shed owned by YTL etc etc.
Don't go believing he's just moved it. He's killed it.
After all this is Bristol, still in the dark ages and always will be.

I realise that, I was just posing the suggestion that we could be teaming up with YTL, obviously planning and ifrastructure would have to be implemented but YTL seem to have made the suggestion that they have the investment to build an arena in Filton, so why not approach them and carry out a joint venture thus sharing the planning and infrastructure costs. Not suggesting it's done and dusted at all.

Seems the rumours of the arena and our stadium being connected are true after all. No arena, no stadium.

Is Marvin Wael in disguise?

Is Marvin Wael in disguise? No, Wael inherited a scheme with permission but no funding. Marvin inherited a scheme with permission and funding in place. Although neither have a believable plan B , so you have a point!

Luxury, riverside apartments and a conference centre will be far more beneficial to the people of Bristol than an arena on their doorsteps.

I get the feeling there will be some more news on next couple days about this. I can't have a debate about the arena, say it's not going there and then leave it at that. He is hanging himself out to dry if he doesn't then make sure an alternative location is decided. Bristol needs and should have an arena.

What a bloody farce, back in 1980 we needed this and we're still waiting, sadly now all the good bands are either dead or too old to tour, im to old to pogo now anyway.

Evil post photo showing Wael looking at the hangars in the back of a Bentley with reg YTL coming soon...... YTL? The Malaysian company that owns Weesex Water, as well as sizeable chunks of Bristol. Last weeks “South Bristol Voice” had an article condemning Marvin the Mayor cos he’s had several trips to Malaysia recently funded by YTL . . .

I can see a non-executive directorship in the future for marvellous marv, looking forward to seeing the soon to be formed "Bristol Housing Company" losing vast amounts of money on the building of this new wonder housing complex

Luxury, riverside apartments and a conference centre will be far more beneficial to the people of Bristol than an arena on their doorsteps. Or it will fill the councils coffers and bring in a load of rich yuppies in their 4x4s. I can't see the ordinary people of Bristol will get much from it.

I can see his reasoning for not building the arena at TM. Makes sound financial sense as long as he then doesn't use the money to build it out in filton where Bristol CC won't see the majority of the benefits of it.
I do wonder with Wael being so tight lipped if maybe they are keeping an eye on things. Would love a new mem to be on arena island. I could walk to Rovers instead of getting the bus!
