Don`t know what`s going on with Payne. The first couple of games I saw him play, he put so much effort in that I thought he was going to be a real asset for us. Against Plymouth and then Coventry, he looked to me like someone had sponsored him to do as little as he possibly could. Within about a minute of coming on, on Saturday, the bench were shouting at him. And so were most of the crowd, standing around me. As Aristotle once said, "It`s a mystery." Or was it Toyah Willcox?

I would argue we do need them[payne and rodman],but we need them to play to their ability and failing that put real effort in while they search for form. Not sure how you can judge the left-back we signed at this stage? Marcus stewart indicated joe martin was unfit and therefore not available yesterday. Your right about dc complaining about the budget, its well documented that our budget is 16th-17th in the division so both the manager and the fans should know that we simply face years of struggle or relegation from league one. Dont matter who the manager is thats the reality. On a brighter note once we do get relegated we will at least be competing with clubs like ours. You know crappy grounds, not making much money outside of saturday afternoons, owners with no money etc etc. How will be be competing with Clubs like ours again if we get relegated? What an odd thing to say.. Historically we have always been a league one club, which is where we play our trade today. Our avg home crowd this season is currently 8,600 which is down by 600 or 700 then is should be due to our bad start to the season and lack of news on Stadium/training ground. But its still the 9th best in the league and only that low in the list because we have Sunderland,Portsmouth and Bradford in the league. Not one club in league two have the potenial that we do. We have a bottom 10 league two ground but our history, current fanbase is league one.We need a new ground asap and then finally we might lose that water taking 'Rag Bag Rovers'tag once and for all !! But the historical thing and the average gate issues are simply not relevant in modern football. Right now with our current set up were clearly league 2. Fleetwood have overtaken us and stand by for clubs like salford and f.c fylde not to mention forest green rovers do the same. Potential is overrated in 2018.

I was never keen on Bennett myself. David Cotterill is available, still only 30, I wouldnt be against getting him in. Would probably like to move nearer home after the birth of his child recently. I actually think that is a good shout , I think he would be very useful for us in this league.
He would be I think. Takes a decent set-piece too. Just the wages that might be an issue

Our stadium is a mess granted, but there's no reason we shouldn't be able to hold our own at League 1 level currently. Our set up comprises of a decent management team, average League One playing squad and an average League One budget.

I'm sure we all love Bennett with his twists and turns but he is a bit of a luxury player imo. With Nicholls and Reilly it was great to see them put pressure on Cov's defence with their speed which the big guys lack. I would have taken off Bennett when Payne came on I thought Tom was unlucky to be subbed yesterday especially given the performance his replacement gave. It seems pretty obvious to me Reilly is the only striker who is on his game and for me would be first choice in every game at the moment. Interestingly no settling in problems for him. I was never keen on Bennett myself. David Cotterill is available, still only 30, I wouldnt be against getting him in. Would probably like to move nearer home after the birth of his child recently. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45579754I wonder what DC's attitude to this will be?

Hopefully a supportive one if he did sign him.
It might be a bit like Jermaine Easter where he would like to get back nearer to Cardiff again. I still think he could do a very good job in L1.

Ancient history, yes. But over the last 20 years we've spent a lot more time in League 2 or below then in League 1.

I'd make him an offer, like you said, I think he could do a good job at this level. Good luck to him whatever happens.

Looks more unfit than he did on arrival
Doesn't appear to want to jump and compared with the salmon that is Ellis the comparison is woeful
Hope he can pull it round - was impressed at the start - now I'm not
9 of the starting 11 were old guard rovers
Coincidence?

Lets just agree to disagree on playing budget as my online research shows us at 17th but i cant do links. Maybe the unfair bit from me is that the club are trying to increase revenue which is something of course its just that we need something more substantial and expensive to compete in this division imo. In a way though your correct as we can be a gillingham, rochdale, shrewsbury or northampton but usually clubs like them and us yo-yo between league one and two. I honestly believe we will go down this season, next or the season after because of the stagnation at the club. Hope im wrong though.

Don't think I can remember a thread criticising a player's lack of effort (more than one game) like this under DC? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not talking about lack of ability, just complete lack of effort.
Doesn't bode well for the bloke, reading some of these comments.
Spose we were due one.

Hope so for his sake as DC will let him know what is expected in no uncertain terms as will the fans
