there is a lot wrong. not least communication and any sense of leadership right
I don't mind criticisms and fair arguments. I just think the bars and some temp stands are a bit of a crap hill to fight them on, when you could pick a whole lot better ones.
If they are looking to get out, they have tarted a few things up that the next person doesn't have to worry about
If they are looking to build a ground or significantly redevelop the Mem. They have tarted a few things up in the meantime to make it a little better
If they plan on hanging around (which it appears they don't) they have done some cheap/risk free work and will have to keep on funding the club unsecured.
meanwhile we all have somewhere half decent to have a beer
I am not defending the owners apparently inaction on bigger projects or the overall leadership and communication because it has been pretty awful.
but if people are 'picking a fight' pick a good one
would it be better if they had done nothing at The Mem? NO
I would rather they did nothing then put that humiliating tent on the terrace. A lick of paint in the bar is not evolution, the board have been a disaster for us Well your humiliated by the new stand whist on the other hand families have now got somewhere to sit and watch the game with their kids away from the away fans and there have been plenty who are happy with that. Who do you feel humiliated too ? The Mem is a better ground now than it’s ever been ok it’s a mixture of strange looking stands and tents but it’s still in better nick than ever so you must have been really humiliated before, what about Twerton ? Much worse and not even ours. Obviously all the time we’re stuck at the Mem there’s very little we can do but doesn’t mean do nothing. That’s what Higgs did with the squad and the development squad and the stadium. Our board have gone very quiet but other than that what have they done wrong ? Maybe loads of things but we don’t know and there’s so much rumour that a lot of that rumour is twisted in to fact in people’s minds. Things haven’t gone that well so far on the pitch this season but DC has made loads of signings so it’s not like the board took the Ellis money ran. If the new signings had hit the ground running and we were top six how would that effect the fans temperament who are humiliated at the new stand and angry at the board I wonder.

Obviously a lot of fuss about nothing....
Club statement on website:
In response to reports in the local press, the Club can confirm that both the Meade King South-West Stand and the Bristol Energy Family Stand will be operational for Saturday's fixture against Walsall.
A Bristol City Council spokesperson said; “After meeting with the club today, the Council can confirm that the necessary safety certificates required to use the new stands are in place for this weekend. We have worked very closely with the club to ensure fans continue to enjoy matches safely and we are confident with the arrangements in place.
"The Club and the Council, through the SAG, have developed an excellent working relationship and have worked closely together to ensure the fans continue to enjoy matches safely at the Memorial Stadium."

Obviously, but you know what they're like on here, it's all Rovers fault, tinpot etc etc They're getting ready for their next meltdown already.

Just put a full length stand along the south stand not a rickity tent on top of the terrace offering the worst view in the stadium, failing that just put seats onto the existing family terrace which has a decent roof. . It looks awful, even Thornbury Town in the 9th tier got a stand up in close season

I don't really understand what's supposed to have happened. If all it required was a meeting between the council and the club (and some of the SAG) then why did the council put out an official statement on the issue (if they did, that's what the post said) instead of just holding the meeting. Sounds like some people would rather blab to the Post than do their jobs. And it sounds like the BP laps that sort of sh**e up.

Indeed even the worst club employee in our history has managed to sort a permanent stand for a 9th tier club. Anyone that thinks putting kids in a tent in the corner of a ground is “family friendly” needs to lay off the crack

It looks awful, even Thornbury Town in the 9th tier got a stand up in close season I approached the club about extending the South stand and offered to put some money towards it, but club are not interested, they say there is enough seating at that end of the ground, even though the way section is often full. With regards to the Family Burger Stand does look a bit sad it does provide seating for families, so it serves a purpose.

Why not screw seats onto the family terrace if they are too tight to put in a proper south stand?

The Thatchers end resembles a farm shed for goodness sake, the ground is a collection of tents, outbuildings and portakabins. I fail to see how one more temporary structure looks awful amongst a sea of different structures. As for the view, is not much different to the SW Stand, do you actually sit in it?

Just to confirm the two bits of open terrace can NOT be have roofs put over the full length of them because it obstructs views from the Dri Build stand, this is partly why the family burger stand had to be moved from its original spot and be made smaller, so I have been told by the club.

I agree the Mem looks awful but I’ve supported Rovers since 86 and we’ve always played at a crap ground and I didn’t feel humiliated at Twerton I didn’t when we moved to the Mem with it’s 2 sides and no roofs and I certainly don’t now either. Also we alwsys created a decent atmosphere in the popular side and and likewise the north stand and other clubs fans take the water but most admit it’s got a decent atmosphere too. Obviously it’s holding us up from becoming the established championship club that we all crave to be but it’s never been any different in my time. Maybe Wael will convince his family to make more happen or maybe they’ll sell up who knows but I’m proud to support my club and proud of our history and our supporters who stood by the club in our darkest times. These times are nothing like as bad as those were or as bad as some make out. But yes things can change quickly in football, as we’ve seen these last 5 years.

Sure, if you want to quote an example They must have a way of funding themselves. Exeter have just redeveloped two sides of their ground and Wimbledon have almost finished clearing the site for their new stadium back in Wimbledon. Perhaps Jim Chappel and his team could visit both clubs to see how it’s done. That sounds like kick and hope. I guess my point is unless we can compare, there is no comparison, therefore no basis for criticism.

So again why did they buy the club if what you say in your previous post is true ? TBH I've simply no idea, I assume Wael fancied playing football club owner hence why he apparently nearly bought Gillingham but then didn't when the owner refused to let him become Chairman, why having bought us he now seems to have lost interest is not clear, my guess is Hani has no interest in funding his brother's hobby now that he's realised it's costing him £2m a season. Problem now is were probably financially stuffed as Wael's doubled our debts which were already becoming unmanageable under NH. To be honest TG I feel its a bit unfair to blame the current owners for 'Doubling the debts' as if they've done it intentionally. The club would be losing money at the moment whoever is in charge so the debts were certain to increase. I may be being pedantic but perhaps the 'debts have doubled during their tenure' would be more accurate. At least there isn't huge interest rates being charged on any of the debts now.

Diversion tactics:- Its October, there is no takeover happening today so lets give them something else to talk about.
The talk can get back onto 'Takeovers' again tomorrow now.
