Why's it a crap argument, Wael arrives at the club and in his first interview announces we need a new ground as a priority, then keeps up that pretence for 18+ months then, after an FB leak, has to admit he's walked away from talks with the UWE. Instead of just owing up he has no money comes up some crap about 12 leading designer working in a Member redevelopment. We find now instead of the ALQ's funding a £30m+ new stadium that they won't even fund any updates at the Mem unless they are self funding. It really bis beyond belief posters are still supporting them. So in your considered opinion, based one your statement, Why did the Family buy Bristol Rovers Football club and don't say its a play thing for Wael. That's utter bollocks Wael told daddy he wanted a cowboy outfit

It makes me laugh the way some people continually knock the Mem, but romanticise Eastville . . . Eastville was a shithole. It was our home, and I and my friends used to walk there from staple hill for every home game, but it was a shithole. I have great memories of being there as a teenager, but it was a shithole. I went there as an 8-year old with my granddad to watch my first-ever Rovers game (which changed my life), but it was a shithole. The point here, is that we follow the Rovers, not the bloody stadium. We are the Gas and we will (allegedly) always follow the boys in blue & white - isn’t that how the song goes? I want a new stadium as much as anybody else, but until that happens I will watch Rovers wherever they’re playing - which at the moment is the Mem. It might not be the best ground in England (or even the West Country for that matter), but I don’t care. I actually don’t care. I’m 55 now and have no plans to shuffle off just yet, so as long as we get the stadium we all deserve before I shuffle off to the great Tote End in the sky, that’ll do me. Until then, it’s the club that occupies my interest not the peripherals. Brilliant post. My sentiments exactly. We all desperately want a better ground, for all sorts of reasons, but it's not THE most important thing about being a Gashead. It is for me because I have watched 50 years of mediocraty. I have seen Rovers in the Championship, Div 1, and 2 and non league, but mostly half way up Division One, or div 3 as it was. I want something better, I want us to have crowds of 20k+ like we did when I was a kid. If we had not have sold Eastville, I have no doubt that we would be the bigger of the 2 Bristol clubs. But that is history, and since then every ground we have been at has been crap, and the Mem is no different. I want to be a gashead watching a reasonable team in the Championship, not floundering around in the lower half of league one, because our sh**ty ground can only provide funds enough to do that. Meanwhile even some non league clubs have better grounds. Bloody angry to think some of you have no ambition for the club

However, we do currently have a ground/stadium to play in, even if it is a shithole. What we DONT currently have is a team that plays with any flair, creativity or purpose; a set of owners that wants to maintain an open and honest relationship with the fan-base; a board that wants to invest in all aspects of the club and propel us forward; or a manager who is happy and supported by his bosses. So while it would be all sorts of lovely to have a new stadium in the offing, we have much more important stuff to worry about. So you can be as Dam angry as you like, my old mate, but it’s not going to change the way I look at things . . .

I watched with my dad from 1966-75 then played for years but followed the club without actually going, then watched again more and more from 2001. With the team flying and new owners i thought this was it,meaning a real shot at becoming a championship club with a nice all seater stadium. now i do wonder if there is any point bothering at all? Obviously im different to those that have always gone to games throughout their lives but is it just league one/two and god forbid non league for us for the rest of my life?
