Even if you take that as an "exaggeration for effect" we are looking at only 3 or 4 first team players still under contract. Could be a busy summer whatever happens. We all moan because of the cases of Bodin and Harrison etc. but this is where the value of short contracts will really come in handy. When we inevitably get relegated we can have a real good clear out. Imagine if this lot were on 3 year deals like the McGhee days D: Inevitably get regulated?

"It’s time for the owners of Bristol Rovers to make a real statement of intent regarding the future of my beloved former club. "For too long now strong rumours have been circulating that the club is up for sale and I know from personal experience that such uncertainty can transmit to the players and staff. "The same situation existed when I first became manager of Queens Park Rangers in the latter stages of the 2000-01 season. "We ended up being relegated to what is now League One and it took me three years there to win promotion back to the second tier. "Looking from the outside at the moment, Rovers are a stationary boat, with a rudder, but no propeller. "Darrell Clarke is the rudder, possessing the necessary passion and coaching ability to guide the club towards calmer waters, but he needs some real drive from above to bring that about. "If the Al-Qadi family are not looking to sell the club they should come out and say so, while also injecting the sort of money for new players I and other fans expected when they took over. "Should they not be prepared to do that, the quicker they move out the better. "I understand the team were cheered off on Wednesday night, despite falling deeper into trouble with a 2-1 home defeat by Gillingham, and that sort of support deserves much better." www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ian-holloway-calls-out-bristol-2273567 Ollie not pulling his punches in that article. Certainly don't see this side of him that people are suggesting where he wants DC's job. Looks like he has a lot of respect for DC to me. The owners, less so. He's nothing to do with the club. He was a headless chicken as a player, a manager who relied on spending and since then he has talked bollox

What we need to do is look beyond this season. Last season when we had Ellis we only won 4 games out of the last 20, this season 4 games out of 18. The downward spiral started last February. IMHO there is only one man to blame, DC

The contracts are all undisclosed so nobody knows. But tommy widdrington said that more than 90% of the squad are out of contract at the end of the season recently. I`m feeling 90% better already. When we're relying on that 90% to pick up the results to avoid relegation it's a worry. Counting on players to give everything for the cause when it's looking likely many won't be here next season is pretty crap !

If their out of contract at the end of the season then they should be putting 110 percent in to win themselves a new contract because I doubt many other clubs will want them.

Out of interest , how many players are out of contract at the end of the season ? Could be a contributing factor in our current poor results The contracts are all undisclosed so nobody knows. But tommy widdrington said that more than 90% of the squad are out of contract at the end of the season recently. That’s worrying with a relegation battle on our hands.

Managed QPR the first time around with next to no money and won promotion back to the Championship. Managed Blackpool to the Premier League becoming only the second Blackpool manager to win a promotion in his first full season, having spent £1.03m that season and bringing in £1.08m. Won promotion to the Prem with Crystal Palace having spent nothing on transfer fees. It might be you talking bollox?

If footballers aren’t offered a new contract by the end of January then their attention moves elsewhere. The thought of fighting a relegation battle with a squad of players knowing that they will be elsewhere the following season is frightening. We have been there before.

The thought of fighting a relegation battle with a squad of players knowing that they will be elsewhere the following season is frightening. We have been there before. It is a problem. If they are no good, then you don't want to be offering them extensions either. The only way around it as I can see is to introduce a 'relegation avoidance bonus'. A lump sum to be paid if the club stay up.
