Wow.
I don't think ive ever seen a manager that forlorn, depressed in an interview before, its more than a job to him. Interesting that hamer denies rumours, and DC brings them up.

yeah. Every time I watch his interviews I think yep this is the guy we stick with but cold logic says he needs to shoulder his share of blame for the absolute state of it. I think the board have a lot to answer for in terms of morale and direction and honestly I wonder whether all these threads should be about the board rather than DC sometimes. I mean, Steve Hamer. Steve. Hamer. What is that about. He has admitted he's made mistakes, all managers do, but he's being let down by those above him with broken promises etc. The owners have been shocking custodians of this club. It's as if they think of it as a passive income opportunity that can keep giving up cash for them as long as they keep feeding it with with airy phrases like 'evolution not revolution' etc. Darrell is right to demand more of them (more? Just something would do). We've lost our prospective stadium since they got on board (because they wanted to own the land, as far as I remember. If 99 years wasn't long enough for them to work out what they'd do if the lease wasn't renewed then I'm not expecting them to come up with Stadium Plan B any time soon). We've also lost most of our best players and look likely to lose one of the best managers we've ever had too, because those players were given no real incentive to stay (ramshackle ground and archaic training facilities) and the money was not supplied to provide adequate replacements for them.
DC is not perfect and he does make mistakes (we'll get a gold-plated stadium before we find someone who doesn't), but it's the owners of the club who have trashed all our opportunities and assets. I'm really angry right now and so I can accept that I might be being a bit harsh, but just what have we gained in the (almost) three years that the Al Qadis have been at the helm? I'm not surprised Darrell's struggling. Most of us have been demoralised enough watching from the sidelines all that's promising about the club being eroded over those three years. How much worse it must be to have it all day every day and to have your job depend on it too. Wael and Co clearly enjoyed basking in the glory reflected upon them by DC's efforts when they first took over - the way they've rewarded him has been appalling.

It’s a results business and these simply have not been good enough for some time. DC has brought it Nicholls and Payne, so he has to take responsibility for their shortcomings. Payne was shocking against Charlton and didn’t show any desire again tonight. Nicholls at least tries hard. But....I’ve been convinced for some time that chaos off the pitch permeates its way into poor performances on the pitch. The whole mood of the club is poor, with so many rumours which makes me think there is no smoke without fire. The squad must hear and read about the rumours. And where is there evidence to suggest that a new training ground is on the horizon? The silence from the owners is a disgrace. We have a fans director who says nothing! The CEO has no profile. The Chairman splutters on the radio about landing lights and so forth. The AQ’s hide behind confidentiality clauses despite telling us season ticket holders back in August that communication would improve. You can’t make it up! DC would be mad to walk away if he thinks there is a chance he could be sacked as it would be crazy financially for him. I still back DC to pull this around but it’s going to be a massive result now if we stay up. UTG!

In all fairness to DC the players he got in in the summer I thought weren't bad players Payne and Rodman had just had a great season at Shrewsbury the left back will be a star in this league but it does baffle me why you would by an injured player who is long term. Even Ed upson had good pedigree for this division but he's been really unlucky because sometimes you will get 1 or 2 that don't work out but it's all of them. And as for the tits up stairs the sooner they move on the better. Can anyone remember the first interview Hamer made and the interviewer asked what can we expect from the Al Qadis and his reply was its something the fans can be excited about and enjoy the journey well I'm not excited or bloody enjoying it you wally.

The board need to seriously back the manager in January. If they don't, kiss goodbye to League One, it's as simple as that. I'm surprised these discussions haven't already taken place. DC should already know what he has to spend in January and negotiating with agents and putting preparations in place. This sort of water poor planning is what has got us into this mess in the first place. The leadership from the top is abysmal. Utterly pathetic. A CEO who who is totally anonymous and an owner who disappears when the going gets tough. The owners and board need to step up to the plate now, as well as the players. This. For God's sake Wael, back him before we lose the best manager we've had since Gerry Francis. Managers of this quality do not come to club's like ours very often and the complete lack of direction from the top threatens to push him away. And to add to this DC Dam loves our club!!!! I love this man, a true Gas..and Rovers legend. If we lose DC due to him being fired or walking then the current board need to be forced out of our club.DC is the best thing to happen at this club in generations.

The owners/board have been a disgrace, and the sooner they **** off the better. I’m suprised the fans haven’t turned on them during/after matches.
What is the point in them being here? We are losing money and it’s just radio silence and regression. If they want success, do something. If they want out, leave. The state of the new training ground says it all.
I have been critical of D.C. this season, and questioned whether he should stay, but it’s almost unfair to judge him in the current environment. As far as which type of person I would like to continue at the club, I would take him over the owners any day.

The pain was there for all to see. The love & passion for the club & the fans was there, Then I think of the interview last week with SH & the last time we heard Wael on the radio, nothing but bland corporate bollox, devoid of any feeling for the club. I fear he could walk, sounds like he has had a guts full of broken promises . He is being let down by his players, and hung out to dry by a totally inept board & owners. SH is only a mouthpiece for the owners, they only tell him what they want him to know & honestly what is the CEO all about? Wael, well it's just as well he has given up his roll with the Jordanian FA to spend more time on Bristol Rovers or we would never hear from him.........oh hang on Time for Wael & Co to man up, be honest with DC & the fans, as to what the F##k your intentions are for this club & how you propose to support, arguably, the best manager in this clubs history, maintain its L1 status. DC MUST STAY

A very important point he makes about taking £1.5m of goals out of the team. There are a collective of other reasons but without a doubt the lack of goals is one of the major reasons we are where we are.
If however you then reinvest barely a third of that budget on a decent replacement its a case of you get what you pay for. A bit like replacing a Mercedes Benz for a Ford KA, or in our case Jayden Stockley for Stefan Payne.
I stand fully behind DC, January is our only real opportunity to at least try and keep our league one status. Wael and Co, over to you!

I posted this in another thread a few days ago, but I reckon it's just as relevant here: "Here’s my take on the current situation, for what it’s worth . . . I have followed Rovers since 1972 and I don’t think we’ve ever had a manager who “gets” us as much as DC does - possibly even including Saint Gerry and Saint Ollie . . . The bloke couldn’t be any more Gas if he’d been born in bloody Eastville, ffs! I honestly think that if you cut him, he would bleed pure blue & white just like the rest of us. He wasn’t responsible for our relegation to non-league, he just got chucked in to take the flak whilst JW legged it uostairs. But in true Gas fashion he turned it on its head and wore it as a badge of honour, getting us back up against many predictions to the contrary and likewise to Lg 1. And yes, he’s responsible for putting this group of players together and ultimately must take responsibility - as the manager - for our current predicament. But . . . What the f**k has happened to that traditional Rovers spirit, where in times of adversity we close ranks, stand with our backs to the wall, stick two fingers up, give it a chorus of Goodnight Irene and prepare to sell our lives dearly? He stuck by us when he could’ve gone elsewhere and so maybe now it’s our turn to stick by him and show the owners that despite their apparent lack of interest/backing/money/desire to succeed/ empathy for the fans, we are shoulder-to-shoulder with OUR manager and OUR team. If the players truly feel connected to us (as DC clearly is/does) then surely they would have more of an emotional stake in our survival? I don’t want to believe that they’re all heartless mercenaries . . . So let’s turn it on it’s head, like we’ve done before, give it a snarl of defiance followed by the Tote end roar and not stop fighting until it’s done. And anyone who thinks I’m just being romantic can f**k off." Now, after watching that interview, I'm more convinced than ever that we should stand behind DC - and if anything, the two fingers and the defiance should be directed towards the owners, not him. They have it within their power to help put this right, and for the sake of the club, the fans and the manager, they should do that very thing. And if they can see that we're standing foursquare behind DC rather than blaming him, because of their inaction and near-negligence, there might be a chance that they'll do the right thing to ensure our Lg 1 survival . . . Top Quality Post my good friend. having just watched that interview i get the impression for DC that its back me in January or i'm off and that will be the sadist day in rovers recent history

Problem is if he keeps being openly critical of the board sooner or later they will have to sack him. You can’t continually criticise your boss without any repercussions.

Time for those that have a shred of knowledge regarding the takeover to come out and reveal what they know. Save DC and our season! The problems stem from the top! You mean let’s get some more rumours rolling ?

He mentioned that they had sold 1.5 mil of strikers, and spent .5 on replacing them, which I took as a jibe at hamers interview . and that the club had missed the opp to move forward. Suggests we got more for Bodin and Harrison than reported by the press. Not if you include Taylor and Gaffney. Of course if you count the true worth of those players, not just the fire-sale prices we got for them, then you are talking 4-5 million pounds worth of strikers sold.

Exactly, I think some people need to realise the amount of money being spent on players these days (especially strikers). We sold 3 strikers for roughly 1.5m - and replaced them on 0.5m - that's already pathetic - then remember that Taylor & Bodin were probably worth 1.5m themselves each

UTG Well, DC said we've sold £1.5 million of goals and replaced it with £.5 million. Last Thursday that lying, bullshitting, two-faced arsehole Hamer told GT that nearly all the money received in player transfers had been ploughed back into the squad. He then went on to say it's not cheap taking on players contracts, etc etc. so what Mr Double-speak was doing was including salaries in his statement. He would almost certainly have been referring to taking over the contracts of Bennet and Craig. He was also almost certainly referring to the salaries of all the new players. Here's the thing, Stevie Wonder, all players need paying, because in the same breath we would have not been paying the salaries of the players who had left. i object to being treated like an idiot by an idiot. I really do feel sorry for DC having to deal with a devious, dishonest arse like you every day.

I’ve been going since the 80s and we’ve always been a club who produces good strikers sells them doesn’t replace them and gets relegated bar a couple of seasons here and there where we’ve managed to find another scorer on the cheap or free. The owners are no different than previous in that respect to any others in my time. You could say they’ve given DC more money for strikers than previous owners TN wasn’t cheap. As supporters what we’re seeing is unfortunate and painful but it’s not rare it’s what we usually see. It maybe hurts more at the moment because we’ve had this good four seasons and we haven’t been through bad times in a while on the football side of things. Hopefully DC or whoever our manager is in January will strike lucky and bring a striker in who plays above his worth and scores the goals to keep us up but like I’ve said if that doesn’t happen then it won’t be the first time. For every Matt Taylor type success there’s five or six Akinde failures if your buying on the cheap or looking at frees.

I'm fed up with venting on the forums about the owners. Why doesn't somebody take responsibility and take a banner to the mem. We're on DC's side (the majority of us anyway). I think the owners have taken the absolute p**s out of our football club and as fans we have a responsibility to show that dissatisfaction. The Al Qadis are not bigger than the club. Even if they replace DC, we need them to provide more for the club rather than using it as a little asset tax haven or an eventual cash cow. I can't get to as many games any more as I used to, but I'd drive from Southampton to be there to show that they can't take us for granted.

Taylor seemingly only resigned due to the infamous clause. He would have walked away for nothing otherwise. Bodin had 6 months left on his contract and could have walked away for nothing a few months later. The gulf in finances between L1 and Championship means we had no realistic chance of keeping either. In terms of reinvestment, we're losing millions a year and therefore the reality is that we were never going to reinvest more than we have. That's always going to be the case in the lower leagues.
