Definite no from me. This competition has been completely devalued - if it is seen to have even a modicum of success/credance the Premier League would move straight onto the next stage of introducng their youth teams into Leagues 1 and 2. I can't believe some people still dont get this. Yeah nah I’m defo out.

Forgive me, but what you seem to be saying is the politics 'is what it is'. That's not an argument it's just saying you don't care. I would redirect you to what I said before that. I think the issue isn't solved by barring u23 teams from the competition or saying no to B Teams - the issue is the lack of money at the lower levels of the game where players only real option is to sign for clubs like Southampton or West Brom (who both have strong youth scouting and coaching structures within the West Country) rather than play for Bristol Rovers where they can earn a decent wage and develop unless they take a huge risk in staying here, coupled with the lack of infrastructure for teams at a lower level. Facilities available to raise the standard of all players and allowing clubs to not rely on their one or two golden gooses. Imposing harsher rules on clubs at the top level on compensation for signing players from smaller clubs. I think there is a lot more to argue against and push for than saying kids shouldn't be playing in the competition. Is the cup flawed? Definitely. The restrictions on team selection is asinine. Group stages are f**king pointless. And yes, I don't believe u23 teams or reserve teams should be involved. And when they come up to debate next time on competition format, I will be 100% behind any supporter move to tell the EFL to cowboy the f**k up and tell the EPL to f**k off and keep the competition as it was. But what is the situation right now? Right now, we are in a competition that could lead us to Wembley. A competition we could realistically win. A competition to bring pride and morale back to a club sorely needing. We can't change the format now. We can only play the games in front of us. So why not make the most of it? And you know what would be more powerful than sitting at home? Going to Wembley and throwing shade at the EFL to their face. Banners, protests - straight forward f**k you, we won your cup, now make change. Showing to their faces how much we can make change happen. What media is taking notice of this "boycott"? They just think we're all sitting at home because we're bored. One of the most important steps in any movement of change is visibility - people seeing that there's change to be made. All in all, I get what you are all standing for and I support that. I only think there's a different way to do it and I want to see my team win. That should always be the goal. This started well but ended up back where you started, You are fully against everything this competition stands for but from "what is the situation right now?' you just pretty much repeat that you don't care anyway (because how it can help the club is more important). The idea we bank on a protest at Wembley (that probably won't happen) is fairly hopeful given those that go won't care. As for the impact of the boycott - the clubs care. They won't support a tournament for long that costs them money to take part in. If you go to these games you support the format of the tournament and there is little way around that. So given you don't you shouldn't go. Look at Port Vale tonight - absolute shambles.

You don't boycott the early rounds and then magically appear at Wembley.
The biggest shock for the EFL will be to see an empty stadium and then have them comparing our attendances on previous visits to Wembley and The Millennium.
5,000 max if we made it.

Slocombe and Mensah both start to-night.Monty scores two for Port Vale. After reading about last night's events, would hope Stoke pay for all the damage caused by their supporters. Absolute disgrace. Rest assured whatever the result is tonight at the Liberty, me and my eighty year old fellow Gashead won't be doing likewise.

I hope two U21 sides make it to the final to show what a farce the competition is. If, as is more likely, it is two 'big' L1 teams - perhaps Pompey and Sunderland - then I'd like to think their fans will continue to boycott it - I suspect Pompey fans may, but as Sunderland are new to this, maybe not. Perhaps if Sunderland are drawn v Newcastle U21 in the next round they may get the message.
Edit - the actions of Stoke fans at Port Vale were disgraceful - effectively taking the p1ss out of Port Vale, which is what having U21 teams in the competition is doing to all L1 and L2 clubs.

We really need to see two of the B teams make it to the final (or even just one) in front of a few thousand maximum even after the EFL will be desperately trying to flog as many free tickets as possible! The problem is, so far since the revamp, only league teams have made the final, and decently supported ones too. Having Oxford v Coventry getting to the final the other year and taking decent numbers only gives the EFL more excuses and they will claim the competition is a success based on the final attendance.

Strange for those going tonight entry to watch live will cost £5? for adults and £1 for concessions. Stay at home and watch on iFollow for £10 what a ripoff, boycott Save all that travel, fuel cost and bridge toll and sit at home and listen for free on radio UTG

Wasn't the original idea behind the trophy to encourage the development of English players, given Southgate has been moaning this week that only 56 English players appeared for Premiership sides at the weekend, then it doesn't seem to be having a positive effect!!

Every league one and league two group of fans throughout the country should boycott every game in this competition. Typical of the EFL to reduce this competition to the depths just to satisfy the money men in the Premier and Championship. This, when it was the Freight Rover and the Paint Trophy was meant for the lower league teams to possibly make a trip to Wembley, but no, money talks and the EFL could'nt resist to ignore us and to destroy any interest in what I consider to be OUR competition.

Nope, Coventry and Oxford boycotted it all season and then took 74,000 to Wembley between them. Our fans will also turn out in numbers for it.

The way to develop players is for the FA to restrict the number of development players EPL clubs can stockpile, which forces that talent into the lower divisions. They then get real professional football, hardened to the demands of the game and if they’re good enough, they can work their way up the ladder...just the way it used to be years ago.
If the FA want these u21 players to get experience, they won’t get it properly in their development squads nor the Football League Trophy. They need regular football league matches.

I find this so strange. I agree the format and continual changes of the competition is stupid and ridiculous at times, but this is a football club. The goal (aside from the role the club plays in the community and how it represents us all) should always be to win trophies. The benefits of a cup run both on morale and bank balance are more than enough reason to push for it. When it was the Paint Trophy and we got to the Millennium Stadium it was a great day for us all (result aside). Why would we not want to do that again? A day out at Wembley, a potential trophy and funds for DC's team and ambitions? 100% should be pushed for. I would prefer us to beat a non league team in the FA CUP but unfortunately DC doesn't mind

I'd probably take him back now but that just reflects the lack of quality and depth of our own wingers rather than Montano being a good L1 standard winger.

Rovers have arrived at the Liberty almost three hours early. Perhaps they intend kicking off early and get the win before Swansea turn up. Leaving at 1800, hope we get there before the match is over!

Wow. 170 miles in 1 hr 45 mins! It might be quicker to get a speedboat. It's only 43 miles by water.
