Read the Accrington Chairman on twitter. Basicall everything is built on 'lies'. Mega rich chairman in the championship chasing the millions of the Prem. Clubs losing money hand over fist and only survive becuase of mega rich benefactors. Some might say, thats just the way football is. We need substantial investment just to be average in the foreseeable. What right do we have? We don't have any right. And that is why some have to get real and accept that thanks largely to a great manager we are currently punching above our weight. Relegation will be tough if it happens, but it will bring us to what is, sadly, our level in the pecking order. How are we punching above our weight when the manager has a mid table budget, top half yes we would be but in the relegation zone we are punching below our weight at present. Every team with a similar or lower budget must be doing the same, which is half the teams in this league.

Accepted, as far as this season is concerned but I'm looking at the overall structure of the club. No way is the club set up to be a League 1 club or higher.

Regardless I'm not sure there's a magic wand which will improve things overnight whoever now owns the club.

It's more the fact that we had our hopes raised after the owners bought the Colony land and then inexplicably went public stating their grand plans for it, despite them not having the means to make it happen. They stated that finances were not an issue in getting the UWE off the ground. My suspicion based on the Colony debacle is that that was also bollocks. I agree that we have no right, however it's the hope that kills you. Before these idiots arrived I had hope for better but I always felt that we were at our level in L1/L2. Sadly the hope that we finally had the means to improve our standing, whilst not being a divine right, has proven to be false, and it's rather depressing.

When DC states he has a mid table budget, I think he means that the budget agreed is viewed as sufficient to keep us in mid table. If he gets us further he is over achieving & where we are now, as he said yesterday, he is under achieving. Regardless of that, this club had a massive opportunity, to build on the success of consecutive promotions, an ambitious manager, planning permission in place for a new stadium, and of course a loyal fan base, preying for a sugar daddy to finally rid us from our ragbag status & perhaps take us to the next level. Unfortunately we ended up with the AlQadi's. All the background infrastructure they have put in place (with their money, which they want back at some point) can easily be dismantled - could be cutbacks that DC has mentioned ? We have missed the boat big time & lost the paddle to boot. Cutting short DC's interview online, irrespective who made the decision, speaks volumes for how the club is run.

Successive custodians of our club have let us down badly. As far as the Al-Qadi's are concerned, I respect what they have done as they have had a go at improving things. They've certainly done a hell of a lot more than previous regimes. The impetus needed to move us on however appears to beyond them, despite Wael's best intentions.

They never actually promised anything other than the guff Hamer comes out with.

Perhaps, fans should stand back and ask the question. "Why would anyone buy Bristol Rovers and invest, substantially, into it?" Don't answer as a fan. We genuinely have the potential to be a much bigger club than we currently are. A well-supported perennial underdog in one of the UKs largest cities. An interesting back story with our Nicknames, a unique kit. These may be me being biased, I don't know, but for example as a leveller I also see clubs such as Oxford, Luton and Plymouth as having similar potential so I'm not as biased as one might think. We do. For a club who brought over 40,000 fans to Wembley for a 5th tier play of final shows the amount of potential there is being a big city club,

Goes tits up due to the global recession, and failurr of the student accommodation provider. So...brilliant plan for UWE made. Delayed a little by protestors / legalities. Gives just enough time for bastards called Sainsbury's to use every trick in the book to get out of a contract. I don't see that Sainsbury's have crashed and burnt since then. And somehow they found money to buy Argos. Whilst that goes on rovers do not invest in stadium. What a surprise. Whatever you think of some of the personalities involved in that decade plus, to suggest they didn't try to improve the infrastructure is ridiculous. The only thing that stopped it was a recession and then Sainsbury's, via TRASH. Magic wand. Well, there is. Sadly it's called money and spending it well. Look at city. They got big headed and thought they could push through a new stadium, via a billionaire owner. Once they finally realised they could not / should not, they found their senses and redeveloped their ground in 3 years with zero fuss. Also established a successful franchise to hoover up and support nearly all other sports teams in Bristol. Now planning conference / arena. It's bloody simple when you have money and spend it properly.

Suggest you read my post I said ignoring the stadium just because NH was planning various stadiums doesn't mean nothing could be spent on anything non stadium related. Leaving aside the stadium and training ground DC's probably got everything he asked for, a HoR, a decent pitch, transfer/wage budget, even a good Academy/Development Squad set up.

They never actually promised anything other than the guff Hamer comes out with. Nobody ever promises anything, they'd be stupid to make promises they can't keep. However they did purchase land for a training ground, state to the manager and all the fans that it would be a top class facility where all the age groups would train at the same venue, with even the added possibility of bringing back a Ladies team. That may not have been a promise but it was a plan made without them having any idea how to actually get it off the ground. I'm happy to concede that I'm wrong on that if anybody can provide contradictory evidence? Edit: plus the "guff" that Hamer comes out with is passed off as if it's nonsense, which in itself highlights how ridiculous this ownership/leadership is, when our own Chairman can't be trusted to air anything of any truth or substance. It's no surprise we're a laughing stock in this city. It's embarrassing. And that's not my fault I'm afraid, it's there for all to see.

When you accept a position of leadership you take on a responsibility to those you lead but our leaders don't take their responsibilities seriously.

They've certainly done a hell of a lot more than previous regimes. The impetus needed to move us on however appears to beyond them, despite Wael's best intentions. The posts about what previous governors and directors did try to do have been forgotten by some. In fact, we had more plans to do things that were stymied by outside influences such as global recessions and nimbys than we ever had since we moved out of Eastville in 86. It’s an absolute insult to the memory of the Dunfords (I was one of their biggest critics through the years) to suggest Geoff, Ron Craig and then Higgs and co did not try to do something positive. Remember that those people did it all off their own back, sometimes injected money into the club when there wasn’t any to pay wages, didn’t charge interest on money lent to the club and didn’t put a charge against the Mem to secure any monies given either. For all Higgs’ fault, what he gave the ALQ’s was a cost neutral stadium project which just had to be either funded by them (Hani ensures them he would sign off on it) which would’ve been repaid by redeveloping the Mem for housing together with a stadium rebuilding grant by the FA. That whole project was going to cost £25m less the fit out of the executive boxes. The estimated return on the Mem site was £28m plus £6m from the FA. It was Higgs and co’s stewardship that really got us back to L1. The ALQs has nothing to do with it, but took all the credit as proven by Wael being carried down Glos Rd like some sort of messiah. We are in far worse a position now than we have ever been. There again, perhaps you enjoy sitting in a tent with a refurbished bar (that the was mainly paid for by the tradesman of the 1883 club) with babestation on. The ALQs are a friggin joke IMO.
