It will be interesting to see who applies. Lots of big name players taking first steps into management. Do we want that route ? A lower league success ? An old experienced head ? An ex player ? An internal promotion?
Tough call, for me it has to be someone that can walk in the door and instantly lift the players and fans. Maybe an interim manager such as a Holloway (:-() or Lee Mansell could give us that lift as we take some time to think longer term.
Id love a young up and coming manager with an experienced dof or assistant. (Gary Penrice type)
God knows but if its Cotterill im off

With Cotterill being at a couple of recent games in the directors box he's bound to be the next "rag ass Rovers" manager.

Someone who speaks well and who I've always considered management material is Matthew Upson. I believe he started doing his coaching badges a few years ago.

Mark Warburton for me. He worked minor miracles at Brentford with a small budget. I think Tony Craig was with him at that time. Controversial, but for me the signing of Craig is when it all started to go wrong. No pace, not great in the air, and frankly not a great player. I know the number of appearances contradicts my view.

You can hardly blame Craig for out lack of goals, particularly up to Saturday (did the players already know DC was off?) when we've had a decent defensive record this season. Assuming Coughlin worked with Starnes at Plymouth you have to wonder if he's already been lined up for the job, given Starnes rather than SH seems to be the main man dealing with DC 's sacking/his replacement. www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-rovers-sack-darrell-clarke-2323010Unless Cotterill or whoever have said get the Sunderland thrashing out of the way before they then take charge next week!!

It'll be f**king Hasselbaink. Wael is a Chelsea fan - he probably loves him. We're f**ked. Think Chelsea, thinks mates with Wael.....think John Terry! Heard it here first... Well everyone else is making stories up about takeovers so thought I would make something up!

But I wouldn't want to work with my Dad and I'm sure Ed wouldn't either Matthew Upson has been doing a bit of voluntary coaching at the West Ham academy and has learnt from some good managers like Wenger, Capello, Bruce, Curbishley and Pulis. Will have gained some good contacts and well respected. Could do a lot worse.

Michael Flynn would be acceptable he's young and willing to give youngsters a chance and knows his way round the lower divisions.

Paul Hurst is the value bet at 11/1. I’d like to see Paul Hurst in but wasn’t he DCs best man and very close friend or am I thinking of someone else ? I’d imagine DC has told him all about it and that would put him off no ?

Shrewsbury Town fan in peace giving you friendly advice NOT to consider Paul Hurst. There is a story which I wont go into as to the circumstances he left us for Ipswich and was not considered for a return to us when John Askey was sacked last month. He is a snake who will if given the chance use your club as a stepping stone and show you no loyalty whatsoever. No different to any manager in the lower leagues then ? Well except for Darrel Clarke.

Paul Hurst is the value bet at 11/1. Don’t waste your money, he’s DCs best mate, and they obviously talk. At the moment he's not getting any money. Has done well with a club in a similar position and his next job is going to be league one surely.

There was a very strong rumour around the club DC would be gone on or by Monday
And that's proven to be the case
I fully expect the next manager to be a suit with a jelly for a back bone
