Fowler has just confirmed he's applied for the Rovers job. Tony Grant would be number 2.

That has changed my perception of maybe him being interviewed at least. Loves the game, has done his badges, seems to know a structure of management as regards his number 2.
I would be worried that going for someone like Robbie Fowler would be more of a marketing exercise than a footballing exercise.
I think the Bristol Rovers job, even though is a "lower league" club as he put it, would probably be even more of a pressure job than any other, especially with us in the relegation zone. There is absolutely no room for error for him. We need, and are expected to stay up. If we were somewhere below mid table with a buffer to the drop zone I would say he has a great shot at it, but we are 4 points from safety and in complete free fall and its going to take more than a household name with a set of badges to keep us up.
Of course if any club changes their manager there is good reasons why, but at the moment, our club is a set of unique circumstances which, in my opinion, needs an experienced hand to be able to motivate the players and deal with the feckless bunch at the top of the tree.

Owner manager, with his money we would be Saltford city of league 1. But still in the shadow of Keynsham Town.

I think Radio Briz Geoff 20Man will be spending much more time in person at the Mem if Fowler, from his beloved Liverpool, gets the job

He was on the same EUFA Pro course as Marcus. maybe they spoke? Having said that Darren Way was on the same course!

It’s a thanks but no thanks for me.
If we’re doing the inexperienced route id go with- hardgreaves, Manse or even lines. Would rather we gave one of our own a go.
This said- it would be one to interview wayyyy ahead of cotterill.

Not against an inexperienced manager. In fact inexperienced managers are usually the ones that have acheived something at Rovers
I know we want to stay up, but i would be prepared to go down with the right manager with an eye on the future than get sucked into the trap of survival and then rewarding the wrong bloke to move us on.
On the basis of that clip. Robbie Fowler is worth interviewing at least. Cant hur the club to listen to his ideas and if he has a no.2 he wants get them both in together and have a chat

A manager with more money than the owners of a football club would certainly be an interesting proposition. Sports Direct sell more Liverpool shirts in Bristol than in Liverpool, so we could be onto something 😂👍🏻 Fowler worth more than Al Qadi?

Would be great if a football man who could afford us and had a vision and plan bought us and Fowler would probably fit that mould.

Fowler is so desperate for a chance at management he could offer to do it for free and be the cheap appointment.
Don't want him though.

Tbh, I’m actually starting to warm up to this idea reading this thread.
He’s the most DC like replacement I can think of. But instead of having contacts in the conference and L2, he has contacts in the premier league and championship

I worshipped Fowler as a kid but not sure about him as manager. I wouldn't be hugely against it though.
His body language is very uncomfortable to watch in that soccer AM clip!
