Big article on Ben Garner in today’s Times. Moving abroad with announcement on Wednesday. Talks about lack of opportunities in this country and mentions him being linked to us. Interesting to see where he is going and how he does.
Who is Ben Garner?
Son of Joel Garner, little chap who used to play cricket for Somerset?

Interesting to see where he is going and how he does. Strange article, complains about foreign coaches coming into this country whilst moving abroad himself. Considering the scarcity of foreign coaches in the lower/non leagues, it seems Garner would consider managing at those levels and working his way up beneath him. In which case it's little wonder he's found opportunities difficult to come by.

Well no one in their right mind admits to applying for any managers job. But what they or their agent will do is to discreetly let it be known that they’re interested. Then they won’t have the stigma of being turned away. All fairly obvious I’d have thought.

Clearly not wanted by any clubs in this country, been without a club since December 2017 when he was no longer required by West Bromwich.

Highly respected coach and will do a good job like he did at Palace and West Brom wherever he ends up. He has used his time out of the game wisely by taking time to study the methods of Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid and has also used the time to take a sabbatical in studying the game, visiting other coaches, clubs, national teams, events, and sports as well as learning another language.

It isn’t clear that he is not wanted by any clubs in this country at all. How do you know this time out of the game isn’t by choice? Having read links to quotes made by respected and experienced managers in the game he is clearly respected.

Darrell Clarke is a Manager. Paul Trollope is a coach. Marcus Stewart is a coach. For me It's about character of the individual. I think GC has the character of a manager.
(To generalise: A manager can be a coach; a coach cannot be a manager)

He has management qualities like Tony Pulis said "Ben has it in him to one day step into the manager’s role. He’s got the potential.” "Ben's an excellent coach and now he just needs a chance to prove he can do it as a head coach. "He's desperate to be a manager - and someone will give him an opportunity at some point sooner or later." And also like Rickie Lambert said: “Like anything I think its tough for a coach to get their first job, hard to break in. So he just needs an opportunity. I would highly recommend him. Just needs the chance.”

(To generalise: A manager can be a coach; a coach cannot be a manager)Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho, Brendan Rodgers, Bob Paisley, Carlos Alberto Parreira and Arrigo Sacchi were coaches who became decent managers.

He, Garner, has to get rid of this entitlement aura.
