Agreed. I don’t care if it’s viewed as the ‘cheap option’, ‘lack of ambition’ etc, I see no reason to potentially rock the boat by making an external appointment at this moment in time. Not broken, don’t fix it! Especially if we went for someone like Garner - surely he’d want to come in and instantly put his own stamp on the team in his first managerial job... do we really need that right now? Not for me. Totally agree - clearly we have a tight knit group working together which includes Maher & Mansell - if we reach the play offs, great that's a real bonus for the club as we are - at the start of season most of us would have settled for a solid mid table finish - but hey ho we are now a genuine top end of the table team - no need to change things until the season end at least. I disagree we still have half a season to play, transfers to be done and obstacles to overcome. We have lost a lot of experience and staff and as such we need a decent long term appointment

I am inclined to think we need something a bit better than we have at the moment but definitely don’t want a journey man coach like Cooper/Tisdale. A bright young thing like Garner would be good. We are all just guessing but remarkably I have faith in the process in place.which I wouldn’t have had in the past.

Just heard that the dressing room believes next manager is going to be Widdrington. Rock on Tommy your already popular in there me thinks not and of course a very cheap option. Where did you hear that from..?? Steve Hamer..??

The man has never managed a football club though, he is a coach. Just because Rickie Lambert thinks all those things, it doesn't mean he will be an instant success. As other suggested, it would be risky to bring someone new and unproven in a managers role, id rather see stability until the end of the season. Players know GC and are picking up points under him. What happens after the new manager honeymoon period is over, will the players still buy into Coughlan's methods? Garner has been preparing for this sort of role for years now. He has a background in educational middle management which taught him about planning and organisation, and also the importance of empathy and understanding the human side of coaching/management. He has psychology/Neuro Linguistic Programming qualifications, the UEFA Pro License and the LMA Diploma in Applied Management. He was responsible for the likes of planning and delivering training sessions, analysing the opposition, and delivering the team meetings to the players at West Brom. Most weeks he would be out watching matches to analyse an upcoming opponent or to look for potential recruitment targets. He has taken charge as manager for EFL Trophy games and pre-season friendlies. He has thousands of coaching sessions in his locker, hundreds of players worked with, thousands of games watched and almost 200 games coaching at senior level with five seasons in the Premier League competing against some of the best players, teams, and coaches in the World, working under managers with more than 4,000 games and 14 promotions under their belts. He's more than ready IMHO. Thought I’d bump this beauty from over a year ago. And yet there’s still posters who think he’s the real deal. As the saying goes, If it walks like a duck and quacks like duck, chances are it’s a duck. I’m no longer looking up the table, I’m looking down it. 12 points needed.

Little unfair to bump this. His supporters didn’t appoint him. It could easily have been others suggesting a different manager.
It’s also still early days, but not that i think he will turn this round.
Edit : was missing the not which falsely represented my viewpoint on this

No bottle to do an interview after the game either, the bloke has no passion, hopefully he’s packing his bags now.

Would love it if he resigned in the morning I think the board need to give him at least another 10 games because sacking a manager after such a short time is ludicrous however if he resigned before that id be relieved because I don’t think he’s got what it takes to turn this bad start around. I hope I’m wrong.
