I think the owners are hoping they can appoint coughlan until the end of the season, they just need a couple of wins to make it credible. Im not attacking coughlan or the owners i just feel its the truth. I mean, from a logistical point of view I would argue that unless they have someone lined up ready to go for January then sticking with the interim team of Coughlan, Hargreaves and Dutton until the end of the season may be the best way until we find someone we have faith to take us forward for the next five years. Whoever we get in has either got to work a miracle or revamp this team in January and it might just not work, as defeatist as that will sound (certainly a view I hate to take, as I would always advocate fighting our way at all costs). I believe we need someone from outside the club ,after all coughlan is part of the failure and players already know him. So i prefer a fresh start for the manager position. That said if its coughlan he will get my support despite not being my preferred option.

Agreed, although Coughlan and co are almost a blend of outside and inside as they're not quite seen as being intricately tied to Darrell like Marcus Steward was. I would say unless the three of them surprise me with a good run of form then I would like to see us look for someone long term later on.

Only 6 votes for Alan Archibald but I see his odds are shortening. Now 5/1 with Sky Bet.
Personally I'd be very disappointed if we go for him. No real pedigree. No experience of managing in L1 or England. He's never even played in England. Relegated from the Scottish Premier with Partick last season and currently just one place and one point above the relegation zone in the Championship. Hardly a great success.
A bit concerned his odds have come in from 25/1 to 5/1 with Sky Bet today. Now third favourite for the job.
I agree with the majority on this poll. Hurst would be my prefered choice but I'd also be happy with Holloway or Appleton. Unfortunately they all seem unlikely if the bookies odds are anything to go by.
I wouldn't mind Flynn but he'd be my 4th or 5th choice from those in the poll.

All he had to do before becoming caretaker was impart his knowledge onto the defenders to improve them which it looks like they have done considering that our defence statistically is better than this time last season and at one point were the 2nd best defence in the league. He gives a fresh perspective but already knows the strengths and weaknesses of the team, we shall see how he gets on in the next couple of weeks.

Always wanted Holloway back so that was an easy choice for me, wouldn’t grumble at Hurst either tho

Who voted Jerry gill, surprised we didn't get Aldi s manager on the list. I spoke with Gill briefly at a non-league game (where he was scouting players for Bath) and he came across really well and his knowledge was impressive. I like the job he is doing at Bath and think he could go on to manage at a much higher level. He did a good job with our youths and similarly at Norwich and Wolves. However, I don't think he is right for us at this moment in time, but maybe in the future.

I'm more concerned that 4 people voted for Graham Westley, the man who basically took Newport back down to the Conference before Flynn somehow managed to drag them back up at the 11th hour.

Between Flynn, Hurst or someone already at the club for me. Although to be honest anyone but Cotterill will do.

Cotterill's odds are shortening, now 2/1. Really hope it's not him.

Played in the same backwell united team as jerry in the western league when he was 16 just breaking into our first team . He was a smashing lad, really intelligent and played the game like he was older. Always followed his career and watched him play v rovers for cheltenham.
Ps i was 30 when he made his debut for us[backwell]
