I don't get the negativity around Ollie. The bloke has three promotions as a manager. He's done it with unfancied teams. He did a great job at Rovers for five years. He has managed in the top two flights of football since leaving the gas. He had two promotions as a player and always made the most of the ability he had getting himself to the top of the domestic game and expects the same of others. He has the passion for football and in particular the gas, he has the contacts in the game, he is an honest leader. The word legend is overused but in my lifetime he is up there with the likes of DC and Gerry Francis and then a number of others who he brought to the club: Roberts, Hayles, Cureton, Astafjevs, Walters... Has the guy had a faultless record, of course not, but the guy deserves more respect than that - without Ollie Rovers would not be Rovers. Well said. There are very few managers who have achieved what he has and his record as a rovers fan, player and manager deserves serious respect. Personally my issue is with personality and the rollercoaster ride he often seems to be on. Just before he left Palace he looked a broken man. I feared for his entire mental health. In need of a serious rest or even retirement. I don't think our club needs that, especially not with the current owners / set up.

I see Coughlan is now 2nd favourite in this poll and that's probably not too surprising given the results.
He is one of my 3 choices but I'm still undecided.
With the odd exception we did dominate shots, corners, attacking play in a number games under DC and were let down by poor finishing or bad luck. No question results have improved under GC but statistics show we have been second best in every game apart from 10 man Fleetwood.
To me it seems we are actually creating less but being more clinical and a touch more fortunate. Scoring goals at important times and opposition missing chances or hitting the woodwork.
Don't get me wrong, results are definitely more important than performances but I haven't seen enough yet to totally convince me we'll continue to win games playing this way.
It's a tough one because I do think we need to appoint someone before the Accrington game to give them time to sign a 1 or 2 new players, so we can't really just give GC a few more games to see how things go.

A week or two back a fan either on here or the other forum said they had heard that we would appoint Flynn once their FA Cup game was out the way.
Anyone think there may well be some truth in this claim???

Flynn and Coughlan are the only two being considered. All the others are not interested, too expensive, or not suitable.
No whisper from the corridors of power told me this. It's just what I think.

Pipe and shltheads that’s all Flynn likes stick to our cogs and 🙏 I was kind of joking, but at the same time I'm a bit underwhelmed by the choice of available managers - the best of the lot was Hurst imo as he made a silk purse out of a sow's ear at Shrewsbury and had them playing good football by all accounts. You can't argue with Coughlan's results but I thought our football against Oxford was pretty dire. I worry that the board have acted too soon in hiring Coughlan but as it is January I guess time forced our hand on that score. Just have to hope that the results continue to hold up because football wise we only seem to be marginally better off than under DC. Will that catch up with us? Time will tell.....

I think we are going to see an organised, bigger and more physical side but technically not so good. Short term I am happy with GC but unsure he us the man long term. I guess we can only get behind him though now.

I was hoping to hear a deal til the end of the season then re-evaluate and if needs be aim for someone with a more grandiose vision of how they want their team to play. It seems really daft tarting the pitch up only to employ managers who like playing percentage football by hitting the channels.
