Back from the trip up north.
The supporters and staff at Sunderland were top quality they were very welcoming and could not do enough for us Gasheads. We played the best football I have seen this season, especially in the first half.
I had the hospitality, it was very good although a bit overpriced.
After the game had finished, I went to the lift as I was on the third floor. The lift was outside the Boardroom. Whilst waiting for the lift, our Chairman walk out with two other people. He took one look at me waiting for the lift and said to the other two " I am not going down in the lift but walking down the stairs". The lift arrived, his friends said "Steve the lift is here" but he said "no, I will walk down the stairs".
A wry smile came to my face as I entered the lift with the two other people. I said to them politely "Steve does not want to talk with me". They must have wondered what the heck was going on. It must have been an interesting discussion when they all met up in the foyer.
Now if Steve Hamer has a problem with me, he is not happy with my pursue of Ken Masters after the text messages I received, that's fine but I hope he does not treat other customers of BRFC the same way.
Still, I had a great weekend and it was good to meet up with some Gasheads in the adjoining hotel before and after the game.
PS - I hope Maddog enjoyed the game.

This is literally and figuratively a story about the corridors of power, going down, and a lack of communication (it even starts on the third tier!).
If it were in a novel I would review it as 'too heavy-handed in its use of symbolism.'

A 'NOUSER' WOULD HAVE WALKED DOWN TOO AND FORCED HIM TO TALK, NO?

Maybe he was worried that anything he said in the lift would end up on here....little did he know!

Maybe he was on the verge of a humongous trouser cough and did not want to share it in a confined space.

I always insist on taking the stairs too so I can get my daily move count up on my Apple Watch.
Well done Steve Hamer for trying to keep active

Why take the lift, far better for your health to use the stairs.

It's well known that Steve has claustrophobia so I am sure this had nothing to do with him trying to avoid you.

Wow! So a guy takes the stairs and you construe that as a personal snub. It's easy to see how the theories and rumours get seriously out of hand on here. Get a grip man.

Did not get back until yesterday as I took in a tour of the National Railway Museum on Monday. I did not take the stairs to accompany SH, as stairs are still a challenge for me after a serious heart problem last year.

If he had said "I'm not getting in the lift with him" then take it as a personal snub otherwise don't be so sensitive and get over it.

This isn’t even worthy of a ‘cool story bro’.

Telling us about your visit to the museum would probably have been more relevant than your 'Bloke takes the stairs' story.

Why take the lift, far better for your health to use the stairs. And the environment!

Enjoyed the story perhaps he had wind with too many sprouts, fact is you said he would not be chairman on New year's day, or intimated that in your unusual posting style.
Anyway merry Xmas to all, and especially to My Garage customers 😁

1. Misleading title - you saw him, you didn't "encounter" him.
2. People on here have been right about you all along - everything is about you. His decision to take the stairs likely has nothing to do with you.
3. Even if it was because of you - who can blame him? You're a sh1t stirrer. You didn't get the opportunity to talk to him in the lift in order to sh1t-stir about that so you're stirring about him taking the stairs instead. So, if your ascribed motive for him taking the stairs is correct - he did the right thing then didn't he?

Feeling the love for Hamer on this thread.
What a shame.
