What a superb interview. The guy is a legend - a class bloke, class manager. I didnt intend to listen to it all right now but was impossible to turn it off once started.
It pains me that somehow he has slipped through our fingers as he was the best thing that ever happened to the club.
I do wonder what the Trolls will say when he is managing at a higher level and we are still languising.

The decision was made but surely we can change our mind now that it's clear the alternative isn't as good as was promised. People's Vote now!

Ye we should have stuck with him, he was doing a fantastic job, I was loving the rapid slide to division 2.

Listened to this earlie, the hour and 16 mins flew by, some brilliant stories and its a real shame still, in my mind, that he won't be part of the rebuild that we clearly need having done it before when we got Relegated.
Wish the man nothing but success.

I enjoyed the conference season but the league 2 promotion and the 10th place league one seasons were just fantastic with some brilliant attacking football played throughout. It all went badly wrong late on in his time at rovers but nobody can doubt his position of one of the very few candidates for best ever manager at the club.

Yup, stayed up waaay past my bedtime! What a hero he is and I really hope he gets a chance in the Champ with a well run, well supported team and can go on to really make a name for himself! Thanks NT20, hadn’t heard of your podcast but I like your style and you’re obviously well versed in all things English football so I’ll check out more 👏 UTG!

Had a big smile on my face throughout that, even though I'm still sad to have seen him go. Good interview.
Nice to hear him sounding relaxed again after his break and I will always be grateful for what he did for our club. Some amazing memories!
Good luck to him wherever he goes next and hope he achieves everything he wants in the game.

Who’s cutting onions in here?
DC can never be replaced in my opinion, we’ve never had a more connectable, charismatic and likeable manager. He’ll forever be a Gas legend for saving our club.

Sounds very much like he walked rather than being pushed.
A great shame

Thank you for sharing this, CPG. I signed up to the forum to share the link, and I was beaten to it! I had a fantastic few hours in Darrell's company. A Gas fan I know commented that he looks 10 years younger already - and he was full of energy. A fantastic character whose eyes lit up when he talked about the success you all shared, and was very circumspect and accepting of what happened this season and his departure. Hope to spend more time with him in the future, and can't wait to see where he ends up next. Thanks also for all of your kind comments so far about the interview. What a great listen. I enjoyed the way it was structured and gave time to all the important parts of his career and his take on them. It was also unusual to hear an interviewer keeping his part succinct and to the point to allow the subject time to reflect and talk about his career. Excellent. UTG!

The guy is a legend but I think it's fair to say his time was up with us. It was clear he ran out of ideas and enthusiasm come the end. Time will tell whether he goes on and is a success at L1 level or beyond. I'd say he still has a lot to learn tactically.

I think the reason this series has been well-received (we've done Appleton and Heckingbottom too) is that we're not putting a camera in their faces and trying to get a big juicy quote about a sacking or something. We are saying to them 'We want to sit down with you, hear about your career, experiences and opinions on the game, and talk football.' They seem to respond well to the format and that leads to a better interview. As for me being succinct - that's something I don't think has ever been said about me. I always cringe listening back, and even if my question is 20 words long, I think 'Why did you speak for so long?', so I'm glad it didn't come across like that. Darrell was so open and eager to talk that all I had to do was say a few key words and he was off!

Excellent interview. Really enjoyed that.
Interesting that he's now ready to get back into management, really wishing good luck to him.
I'll certainly be following his career

Listening to this interview just makes me angry. How could we let someone as passionate, as honest, as knowledgeable about football as DC leave the club? Don't get me wrong, I hope GC goes on to become a Gas legend...he talks the right way and I think he was the right choice to take over from DC but it should never have got to that position in the first place. We should have stuck with DC - even if we get relegated. I'm angry and sad in equal measure. I wish DC all the best for his future. He will go on to great things and we will look back and think 'How the hell did we let him go?' Still, this is football, the most fickle game going.

The comments in the post match interviews said it all and it started to get to a stage where it was simply untenable.
