Ugh please do everything to bring him back.
Sounds well rested and stress free at the moment and I'm happy for him. Going to follow him for the rest of his career. Best manager we have ever had and sounds like he's a gashead for life.

Can't we just get him back? He's had a few weeks off.... When a manager is going through a rough patch, why not just send him home for a month or two to re-charge his batteries. The No.2 can run things in his absence. It has to be a better option than risking everything on an unproven manager. agree in a way. DC certainly needed a break in the short run. But how on earth you can really do that is up for discussion. And as we know with Big Mal, bringing in a more experienced hand to help a struggling mgr can be very difficult as well. And of course it wouldn't have solved the medium or longer term issues, re the infrastructure, the promises, the vision.

Listening to this interview just makes me angry. How could we let someone as passionate, as honest, as knowledgeable about football as DC leave the club? Don't get me wrong, I hope GC goes on to become a Gas legend...he talks the right way and I think he was the right choice to take over from DC but it should never have got to that position in the first place. We should have stuck with DC - even if we get relegated. I'm angry and sad in equal measure. I wish DC all the best for his future. He will go on to great things and we will look back and think 'How the hell did we let him go?' Still, this is football, the most fickle game going. Isn't it pretty clear he wanted out come the end? The comments in the post match interviews said it all and it started to get to a stage where it was simply untenable. yes, but that is what titch is saying. how did it get to a point where our ambition and his, and the promises made, got to a gap so wide that he slightly lot the plot on the pitch, and the club lost the plot in many other aspects of the entire project / vision / reality.

No one is bigger than the club ultimately and regardless of whether he goes on to better things or not, the decision to part was the right one sadly. He's had to endure the realities of lower league football and his next job will be no exception. It's unlikely he'll have much, if any, funds to spend and will have to sell best players if he maintains his stance of not giving long contracts.

You can aim many things at DC, but you cannot for one moment accuse him of having a lack of hunger and desire to see this club succeed.

Exactly, if the current board had matched his ambition on our return to League 1 we’d be in/on the verge of the championship right now.

And for the vast majority of his time in charge that was absolutely the case. However did you not listen to his final post match press conferences? For me it was abundantly clear that he'd lost the desire to continue in the job longer term, made obvious by the swipes at the board and comments made about his signings. He looked a beaten man sadly but I'm sure the break will do him the world of good and he'll come back to a very lucky club.

Players on 5k+ a week and millions spent in the transfer market?

Stuck in Sapporo airport for 4 hours so just listened to this interview. Great interview, very knowledgable interviewer, really enjoyed that. What a great guy Darrell is, came across brilliantly and some good anecdotes and interesting commentary on his time with us. Seems like he was so close to going to Leeds.
Hurts a bit to hear him talking about speaking to other clubs now. Bit like when you break up with your girlfriend and then see her chatting to another bloke down the pub. Ouch!
Good luck for the future DC.

Very good interview that and a most enjoyable listen.Would still like to hear a gascast effort with the ledge Darrell, with their local knowledge brought into the discussion.”In hindsight, was going away from making a players character the top propiorty the major mistake in recent recruitment,or was that inevitable when bigger £’s = inflated player egos?” That would be a question I would love to hear answered.

Tom Nichols signing single handed blows that view completely out of the water.

May as well just ask him if he think Steffan Payne is a Lady Garden.

Haven't listened to it yet but I take it he didn't give any more info on the Matty Taylor transfer?

Shame. I feel that is where it all started going wrong and it seemed he had more to say about the matter.

He left because the goals were were sold out of the team and not replaced with players of the same standard. I suspect he also got fed up with false truths and false promises. He was let down by the board etc
Think they made a mistake letting him go. Could be its the worst decision ever.
