We get a club that is sustainable. I wouldnt build a new ground until we sell out the current one every week. Where is the money coming from? What are you talking about sustainable? Since when has the club been sustainable under this regime? You are talking nonsense. Since when has the club been sustainable?

It hasn't been and what other business would be allowed to run as such?
The owners need to make the club sustainable and find a level that suits our income/ expenditure. (a bit like Walsall do every year, and that tin-pit club Accrington Stanley!).
Football is a basket case!
Do we just carry on pouring money down the drain? Glad it's not my money!

Everyone is glad it's not their money, which makes you wonder at the posters who want someone else to spend theirs.

So we get relegated and the owners axe the development squad, Gorringe and all the other hangers on and we go back to how we were under Higgs. It would be funny if it weren't so tragic how this pack of 'world class businessmen' have been taught a lesson that they know bugger all about the costs of running a football club.

It's a rich man's sport and this lot are paupers. We all laughed at Higgs for his fag packet maths- well, the current board have to be just as guilty of that if not more so judging by the way they increased the admin costs by 300%(!). It's only now they have started to wonder how it's all going to be paid for now the debt is up around 9 million and equity in the stadium is being watered away so it's all hands to the pump getting players out of the door to compensate and you would expect the admin bill to be significantly trimmed over the summer too if we get relegated. What goes up has to come back down, quite literally.

We've always been in financial turmoil, nothings changed, but it's nothing we can change, unless I win tonight and then I'll buy the Club, sell off the land and bugger off to Barbados.

So the bit about axing the development squad,is that yet another fact? You know so people can get all angry like the shocking news that bennett was on £4k a week or the revelation that the owners turned down a £25m bid to takeover the club. So as with the other fables i will ask if you can direct me to the evidence that the club will scrap the dev squad if we get relegated?

Sadly BB it is. More or less. I was told reliably at the start of the season big economies were on the way. The DS is probably a leading casualty. PM me if you want more details.

If we need to cut costs, I would suspect the first team would reduce to fewer than 20 and rely on the development squad as back up.

[/quote] With respect I would have thought it fairly likely that in league two a development squad would be a luxury (assuming relegation which at the moment has to be very probable). How many league two clubs have a development squad? Also, another poster mentioned that the development squad had already had their full time status cut. Can you confirm/deny this? If it is true then it doesn't bode well for it's long term future. How many seasons has it been in place? One? And already it's position is tenuous. It shows the Al Qadi's really haven't done their maths at all. Viva la evolution.

Many years ago. Well round about the middle to late eightees Rovers assembled a team from pretty much players that nobody else wanted. Five years later they were in what would be the championship today. Yep, and two years after that we were back in League 1, which I always felt was our rightful place. A decent league 1 team chasing championship football. Over the last 15 or so years we have become a team who struggle to stay in League 1 and this has not changed despite different owners. How has that happened with our large fan base? I think you will find it was three years, but my point was that the an average side can achieve with the right management and mentality. We have seen that with DC, Francis and Ward to lesser degree. We are where we are moaning about the owners isn't going to change it and Coughlans got to try and keep us up with what's available to him. We know it shoul be better, but it ain't. We have just got to hope that GC can somehow keep us up.

I rather think you knew I wasn't stating fact and were just being a pedant for pedant's sake. It will be a sad day if everyone has to preface their posts with 'IN MY OPINION' but at least it would give you a break from pulling everyone up on it.
