Tempting fate. I really hope those comments don't bite us in the bum. I thought a player could not play against his parent club In the premier league Yes - in the football league it's between the clubs

Makes me laugh, if we lose he's crap if we win he Brilliant Exactltly- we were certs for relegation after the Wycombe game. I'm going to reserve judgement until we can see some consistency. Based on previous form we have a run of crap games when everyone will want him sacked just round tbe corner. EDIT: I should add that's not to detract from the points he has achieved so far. He has brought us back into contention- just have to be mindful that only 2 games ago we were considered to be bloody rubbish whereas now it seems like we are play off contenders. The truth is (as always) most likely somewhere in the middle. Brought us back into contention” for what?

Glad he got the bad eggs out imo in Payne and Bennett. Ogogo seems a bit more lively and like he will fit in which is good! I think considering our crap board, he’s given us the best chance we could have in terms of squad and positivity. All down to the lads in blue and white now!

Think he's done brilliant in turning the team around so quickly. Unfortunately we were going nowhere under DC and other than the Wycombe blip I think he's done better than anyone else could have done. Shame we dropped 2 points v Posh but they were a good side on the night. Let's smash Shrewsbury now. I like his passion and sounds like his standards very high. Have to listen to his interviews two or three times to understand it all fully but delighted he is our manager Starring in Father Ted at the hippodrome in August so expect a slow start to next season 😂😂

It surprises me how no one has yet to realise that Coughlan’s been a big success since he first walked in to the club back in July. DC bought him in to sort out our defensive frailties which he surely has done. 33 conceded in 30 games is very acceptable imo. I know the goal scoring has suffered but it’s striking that balance. We create enough chances I would say. The signs are encouraging to say the least and I like the look of Coughlan. He doesn’t bulls**t and does say it how it is.

16 goals scored in those ten games is also a massive improvement even though still not great. But 7 goals in our last 3 games is an even better more recent improvement.

Ive really taken to coughlan,so want him to succeed. Love his full on enthusiasm and his praising up the players to build up their confidence. Quite like the fact he might make a gaffe during interviews because of his personality. Also you can sense that although he wants to encourage and praise his players he is not someone you would want to get on the wrong side of. Very clever what he has done with holmes-dennis,rodman,reilly and nichols especially. Very cute how he managed to get payne and bennett off the wage bill.

Yeah he dithers his way through interviews a bit and says the odd thing that doesn’t make much sense or contradicts himself but I don’t mind that because it shows he’s an open person who says what he thinks as he’s thinking it. So many managers these days just spew out the football manager cliches it’s almost as if they’ve been programmed beforehand and it’s often because they’re very defensive boring personalities. End of the day it’s a results business and if he can keep us up we’ll all love him , apart from probably one or two but you can’t please all the people all of the time.

Let's not be childish. Something went very wrong in the 2nd half of last season, this appears to have been exacerbated in the summer with recruitment.
Let's see where we are in May and reserve judgement until then.
The club is in a mess in every which way. It's going to take a while to sort this out.

I don’t think there’s anything childish about judging a new managers first 10 games based on how we’ve done in those 10 games at all.

The current manager knows full well that the recruitment was poor and that at the very best his budget will be smaller next season. He is trying to keep us in league one and start to build his own team for next season as best he can within these limitations.

(Please someone don't overreact to that it's just meant as light hearted banter.)

Going forward though the reasons why we are a perennial failure remain. I would love to hear his thoughts on the development squad, it's funding and expectations in terms of feeding the 1st team and therefore his recruitment ambitions. What does he feel about his coaching team, and what are his plans for them. What about recruitment, how does Widderington work with him with an agreed objective in mind. Anything less is being happy when we win followed by being abjectly disconsolate when we lose. We have 6 months to sort this out, if not we go into next season as we did last, in fact as we always do. Rudderless, with no clear objective in mind other than short term platitudes to appease the masses.

That’s also my take on it too , GC has done well since he’s come in , If he manages to keep us up he will most certainly gain a lot more of my trust. I think it’s still a tall order ( sorry guys ) I still can’t see that we will be ultimately better than 4 other teams between now and the end of the season, of course I will continue to support the boys and nothing will make me happier than to be proved wrong.

Gerry francis understood this simple fact but darrell clarke and don megson never quite grasped the idea.

No ones saying he’s the best manager ever just that so far he’s done a very good job. Which he has. We’d have been b******* without the points he’s gained since he started. We are not safe but he has done a good job so far. And it’s always good to give credit where it’s due. I think that was the point and one that most fans would agree with I would hope. UTG!

To be honest, I know a lot of people seem to think us going down is unavoidable, but I do think we'll stay up. Of course, it's very close at the bottom, the points difference between 24th and 23rd is only 1 less than the difference between 11th and 23rd.
Obviously AFC Wimbledon will go down but I really do think we're better than 4 of these teams, I think Bradford will probably go down too even though they seem to bring in a lot of players every window, something's wrong at their club. Obviously the next 2 to go down is tricky, Oxford and Plymouth have both picked up like we have, Shrewsbury have signed a lot of players in January, Gillingham have Eaves.
We seem to be creating and scoring so much more than under DC, I remember us going several games without scoring a goal but we seem to be scoring so much more under GC.
But that was our main issue and it seems to have significantly improved under GC. And our defensive record this season has been immense, we've conceded the second least goals out of any side not in the top 6. Whilst probably more down to Bonham, why can't we stay up? We have a good enough squad imo.

No one picked this up whilst he was a coach.
