Get a bloody grip.... we ain’t going down ! But will you be that confident on Saturday night if we lose at Fleetwood and a couple of the other results go against us? I'd have put good money on Wimbledon and Accy getting battered last night, this is a strange season where nothing is guaranteed.

I think 2 of them would need to lose to have it sorted before the final day if we don't get any points at Fleetwood.
Scunthorpe v Bradford Wimbledon v Wycombe Accrington v Plymouth Rochdale v Southend
There is a very realistic chance they could all win which would leave the table looking something like this going into the final day.
50 - Rovers
50 - Wycombe
50 - Southend
50 - Plymouth ---------------
49 - Wimbledon
49 - Scunthorpe
43 - Walsall
37 - Bradford
The final day fixtures are:
Plymouth v Scunthorpe Bradford v Wimbledon Southend v Sunderland Wycombe v Fleetwood
So if we don't get any more points one of Plymouth or Scunthorpe would finish above us.
Wimbledon would need to win at Bradford which seems quite possible after their draw at Luton.
Wycombe would need just a point at home to Fleetwood.
Southend would need a draw with Sunderland. However, if Sunderland don't beat Portsmouth their automatic promotion hopes will have gone by then.
Wimbledon have only won 1 game in 6 so suddenly winning two will take some doing, plus are Rochdale and Accy really going to both lose after just beating us and Donny? Even if Sunderland blow promotion they will still want to finish 4th to avoid playing the 2nd leg away at Charlton/possilby still pip Pompey for 3rd and so play Donny. I agree, the odds are in our favour but:
Wimbledon have only lost 1 of their last 10 games and are unbeaten in 5. They will have been given a MASSIVE boost with their 95th minute equaliser at Luton last night and are capable of beating Wycombe at home and an already relegated Bradford side away.
You'd expect Scunthorpe to beat Bradford at home an Plymouth have a decent chance at Accrington, particularly if Stanley are now on the beach having secured safety last night. That would mean one of them would go above us on the final day after their winner takes al battle at Home Park.
Southend have reportedly played some of their best football of the season in their last 2 matches. Had to settle for a point at Walsall after a penalty that never was before beating a decent Burton side. I expect them to win at a Rochdale side who thanks to their win at the Mem have nothing to play for. They do face a tough test in Sunderland on the final day but getting a point would be less surprising than either of the results last night.
That leaves Wycombe who I expect to lose at Wimbledon but should frustrate Fleetwood enough to get a least a point at home on the final day.
I am pessimistic I know but I just feel we'll need another point from our final 2 games.

Yeah, you're basically just looking at every result we don't want and saying that's not as unlikely as we might think. Which for one game is perfectly reasonable, but for 8 games it becomes increasingly unlikely.

Get a bloody grip.... we ain’t going down ! odds slashed from 250/1 to 66/1. That doesn't make any sense. The Wimbledon result makes it less likely we get relegated (they still need two wins), and Accrington were never our biggest rivals. Unless there's just been a rush of faint-hearted Gasheads betting against us.

Get a bloody grip.... we ain’t going down ! odds slashed from 250/1 to 66/1. Bookies slash the odds when money goes on a bet. No wonder the woman who owns bet365 paid herself about £300 million last yr !

Get a bloody grip.... we ain’t going down ! odds slashed from 250/1 to 66/1. For context, Newport were 30/1 to beat Man City. Those odds are still massive and we all know what they say about seeing a poor bookie. The price is also probably being artificially manipulated by every Rovers fan and S***head on both forums lumping on

To be honest if they can’t get it together to pick up one more point after that shower of sh**e on Monday then they deserve to the relegated. Unfortunately it’s us fans who have to pick up the peices whilst they’ll just mostly leave and still go on to pick up big money elsewhere. We deserve better.

Wycombe can guarantee safety for themselves and us if they avoid defeat at Wimbledon.Wouldn't that be ironic.I think they will do it as well.I think we will beat Fleetwood anyway so f**k them all.

Bit too early to be fervently documenting the results of the teams around you in the hope they might trip up and hand us a boost I know but a few “unfavourable” score lines for the Gas so far tonight.
Lincoln City 0-1 Wigan Sunderland 0-1 Burton Plymouth 0-2 Rochdale
Oxford and Northampton drawing 0-0 in their respective games.
Swindon losing 3-2 away at Crewe Alexandra.
As it stands we move down to 22nd, with 1 or 2 games in hand on the teams above.
All subject to change of course.

Lincoln 1-1 Wigan and Crewe 4-2 Swindon now just as I typed the last post.
Quite a turnaround in the Crewe-Swindon game from the visitors being 2-0 up. I still maintain that despite our performance, they were one of the worst teams we have played this year.

Must win game against Gillingham or big problems ahead-Need to win three on the bounce to start moving up the table which will not happen-but at least PT has good experience in Div 2

Have I missed something, but why drag up a thread from 19 months plus ago? A new one for this weeks fixtures would have been fine, surely.
