On lines story, someone said ‘good luck in the future’ ‘thanks for everything’ or something along those lines and he responded with hearts. Looks 100% off then.

Lines was poor in the second half of last season and continued that for most of the first half of this season, the fall out with GC is just really covering over the fact that he'd have been fortunate to get a another contract even if DC had remained in charge.

The difference being DC would have given Lines a dignified send off and a tribute in the post match interview. GC didn't even raise the subject himself and when asked dismissed it altogether.

Expecting news today on the retained list? I would have thought so, but you know Rovers, and of course the players will all want to contact their agents. I think to 2 big problems will be getting rid of Payne and Nichols, as both are under contract. Of course if Coughlan says "you wont be playing for the first team" that could spark a move

GC has had a word and gave them JCHs description

Expecting news today on the retained list? GC mentioned in his post-match interview with the Post that he'll be sitting down with the players for one-to-ones on Monday (yesterday) to hash out their futures etc. For reference, DC announced his retained list on 03 May last year, one game before the end of the season. Season before that is was end of April. So I'd probably expect it end of this week/early next as a guideline (probably still hashing out some contract details though - offering some, waiting for them to accept etc.).

Of course if Coughlan says "you wont be playing for the first team" that could spark a move yeah but not very quickly - it might go to pre-season to off-load some unwanted players.

Thought GC put Lines on, so he could get the send off he deserved?? I must have been dreaming lol. He was sitting down with the player's yesterday. So although Lines was expected to be released, would it have been fair for GC to announce it, before Lines had the chance to??? Too much is read info interviews now lol

Lines gone according to his twitter. So, after 4 and a bit seasons back at my boyhood club, back to back promotions and a highest point tally in league 1, the journey has come to another end...from Halifax away, to Barnsley at home, it has been a truly memorable time, the messages the past few days have been amazing And I wish I could reply to every single one 💙 I never thought I’d be leaving this club again, but once again I look forward to a new challenge and wish the club nothing but success as always 💙

Such a shame for one of our own!

I hope we can get these consensual 5 key signings on free transfers, otherwise it's back to loaning U23 players from Prem and Championship.
Also, people, please stop hoping for 15 players to leave every season just because you didn't like them. It's like you never learn.

There is nothing wrong with loan signings, as long as you get the right ones! Just look at the impact Wilson and Mount have made at Derby this season. I realise that Rovers would never be able to get players of that quality, but there must be loan players available that can have a similar impact in Div 1.

Yeah, that's mostly what I meant, sorry for being unclear. I was more talking about Prem/Championship players in >our< reach, which have been more miss than hit in the past. But in general there's good players out there who could come in as loanees.

Joe Lumley and Ryan Sweeney (first time) were also decent loan signings.
