............… when certain players get to know if they have a future at BRFC.
IMO, as we finished 30 points off a playoff position, we need wholesale changes to get anywhere near a top six position next season.

The teddy bears have their picnic ? We are "only" 19 points off the playoffs and as mentioned elsewhere 8th on form since GC took over.
Promotion next year, you read it here first.

Yeah I’m not sure whos up but my summary would be
Bonham - worth signing but not silly money Smith - keep for back up if not then leave Slocombe - leave
Kelly - keep THD - short contact - must prove fitness
Craig - leave Lockyer - mind made up for us Menayese - keep Clarke - keep Kilgour - keep
Partington - leave Leadbitter - leave
Sinclair - keep Upson - leave Ogogo - keep Lines - leave Clarke - keep Sercombe - keep
Matthews - leave Rodman - keep Bennett - leave
Reilly - leave Jakubiak - keep Clarke Harris - keep Nichols - leave Payne - leave

quartered- ridiculous you can't lose all those players when the talk is that we aren't going to sign very many. That will get us relegated or a repeat of the Paul Buckle season. Add to this most players are CONTRACTED for next season anyway. Most of the players who have been regulars under GC are good enough to be at the very least part of the squad and you don't want to totally break up the squad team spirit which has been built since DC left. Bonham - worth signing but not silly money Smith - leave Slocombe - leave
Kelly - keep THD - keep
Craig - keep Lockyer - mind made up for us Menayese - leave Clarke - keep Kilgour - keep
Partington - leave Leadbitter - leave
Sinclair - leave Upson - keep Ogogo - keep Lines - leave Clarke - keep Sercombe - keep
Matthews - leave Rodman - keep Bennett - leave Mensah - leave
Reilly - leave Jakubiak - keep Clarke Harris - keep Nichols - leave Payne - leave

If there is talk that we won't be signing many already, then I do believe we are in for another season of struggle.
Agree we can keep some players to fill the squad, but to do better next season must bring 4 or 5 players which are to be first 11 players.
Sorry Rovers, if we don't sign some key players we clearly need to compete it tells us once again about the boards ambition once and that it is not nearly good enough.

Lol!

Our realistic aim is to stay up without being in a relegation fight.

GC said there won’t be wholesale changes which could imply a fair few of the non-contracted players get offers to stick around.
Failing that there will be plenty of out of contract up and comers, players who don’t fancy sticking around in league 2, players who fancy a change in league 1. Players relegated from league 1 who are too good to drop down a level.
Let’s panic in August not 2 days after the season ends
Let’s also remember the players will know today not necessarily us, so no meltdowns about club communication and 9pm today when we’ve not heard anything. I read somewhere that it’s important to GC to let the players know face to face, which probably includes some time to digest it as well

Surely after a very poor season the board either need to invest in better players or sell up, they clearly expect us to keep turning up like mugs, when often the product on sell isn't worth the money, sadly I pick and choose these days as often I feel like I've wasted £25+ on rubbish, rovers fans deserve a lot better.

What time do people think the retained list will be released? Also if 90% of our squad is out of contract it could be a long day for GC.

We're not a big enough club to compete with the top ten.
Top of the other 14 teams will be as good as it gets.

The squad I would like to see if we're being realistic about who will/could go due to contracts etc:
Smith NEW GK Andre Jr (backup)
J Clarke New RB Craig Menayese NEW CB Kilgour Kelly Holmes-Dennis
Sercombe Ogogo O Clarke Upson NEW CM
Rodman NEW WINGER NEW WINGER
Clarke-Harris Reilly Nichols NEW STRIKER
That's a squad of 23 and then you'd have the development squad players to come through, Moore up front should be knocking on the door, Russe etc.
It would still require moving on Leadbitter, Partington, Matthews, Bennett, Sinclair, Lines and Payne in addition to Lockyer who we know is leaving. I think that's realistic as all of the above are not getting games and I think will want game time. Payne might be the most difficult. We can assume Bonham and Jakubiak won't be coming back.
I'd prefer not to keep Nichols Upson or Reilly personally but I think they'll stay. Upson has been a GC favourite, Nichols has played games and could still give us an option as he's technically a decent player just not a striker. Reilly has been on the fringes and can't see him going after one season.
If the signings are right we'd have a good squad. Most importantly we'd need to get the "spine" signings bang on imo. A solid GK, commanding centre back, creative midfielder and a goal scorer. Easier said than done I think.
