Swindon are keen on Bennett, so I assume they'll be happy to pay off the last year of his contract/pay a small transfer fee. Mensah may agree to mutual termination to get gametime as he's still young. Matthews I think still has a part to play, there's a good player in there somewhere. Payne is the tricky one. Who the hell would want him? I’d argue a few clubs would want Payne, especially in L2. He’s scored goals in L1, reached a playoff final and had a decent goal scoring record in the Conference. Yes, he was awful for us but I’m sure there will be at least one or two clubs that will want to take a gamble on him. Same goes for Bennett and Mensah, can’t see either of them struggling to find clubs. Hope you're right mate!

I love Sinclair as much as the next guy but confused as to why so many people are surprised he's off. Not technically good enough for L1 and sadly you can't give someone a new deal solely for their off-field persona. I will honestly miss the guy but if it frees more room in the budget for better players then I'm all for it.
Hope you land a good move somewhere Stu, you've been a fantastic servant to our club over the past five years or so!

Not sure that was an upgrade to be honest but that's the manager's perogative I guess. Brave shout though, ripping out the heart of the successful team. He really can't hide behind what he's inherited now. Next season will be Coughlan's team.

6 senior pros leaving which hopefully means GC can get some quality in but 4 other senior pros (Matthews, Payne, Bennett and Mensah) are back at the club who you presume the club wish to off-load - that might be tricky unless a few of them get paid off !? Swindon are keen on Bennett, so I assume they'll be happy to pay off the last year of his contract/pay a small transfer fee. Mensah may agree to mutual termination to get gametime as he's still young. Matthews I think still has a part to play, there's a good player in there somewhere. Payne is the tricky one. Who the hell would want him? Dream on if you think Swindon are going to pay Bennett's rumoured £4K p.w. salary in full, likewise why would Mensah terminate a decent Div 1 contract for a one for far less in non league?

I found the retained list very depressing. Mensah, bennett, payne, matthews, nichols and reilly all still under contract but of no use to the club. Although i like tony craig its staggering that they gave him what is probably a two and a half year deal! We now know that nichols has at least a 3 year deal which makes me think that bennett, payne and rodman could also have 3 year deals.
Were in big trouble.

We all confident that now the broom has pushed out the deadwood Wael will step up to the plate and give GC the money to replace them?
Nor me.

Thats simply not true though as he is stuck with loads of players still under contract who cant cut it in league one.

Our eight-year-serving, academy-graduating, Welsh-representing captain. It was a no brainer.

We would do very well if we can ship these players out and if we cant get money too then that will be a bonus I reckon.

No real surprises in there but it does show we are in for a big summer in terms of recruitment with a lot of the first team squad on their way. Disappointed to see Sinclair go but is probably the right decision. Partington is the strange one for me but as long as he as seen as back up then I am not overly worried. Don't know why Mensah or Matthews are't included on the list of loan players returning. Assume they are both still under contract? This is typical Rovers, they can't even produced a retained list without it being complete! I can't understand why we're offering Parts a new contract as he's struggled in virtually every game he's played this season, surely there's better players out there we could sign? Now Leads has gone we're still going to have no pace down our right side next season if JC & Parts sign new contracts. Disappointed the club didn't let Sincs have a decent send off on Saturday, personally I'd have sooner thanked him for his time at the club than Locks who's simply after more £'s. Matthews and Mensah are on the list on the OS!

Nonsense, he's played his part in keeping us up, Sincs has not been able to hold down a 1st team place this season under DC or GC, Div 2 is really his level and he's better off playing 1st team football there each week next season than as a bench warmer for us.

My understanding is that lots of player have triggered 1 year extensions based on appearances. Sercs, Craig and Rodman were the ones I know about.
