A good point has been made. I think Clarke-Harris looked half as good a player when Nichols wasn't next to him so we settle for that then do we? Not for me - I’m not saying he’s completely useless - I think I’m more saying - he’s had his chance and WE NEED BETTER! (Not shouting but I think this is more my point in hindsight) If the club can’t see that and address it then we will continue to struggle each week imo! We need a striker who can score goals! Not sure anybody disagrees with that view but surely this thread is about whether TN should remain at all at the club or be shipped out if we can find any takes, personally rather than have to pay the likes of Swindle or Exeter 50%, or whatever, of his wages f9r a full season then I'd give him another chance. TN will know if he doesn't come good he's destined for Div 2 football next season. I suppose another option is that we loan him to a Div 2 club til January in the hope that he finally starts scoring at a lower level, then brings that confidence back with him for the 2nd half of the season.

It's all good saying we need better but in a team lacking creativity, is it really the best idea to be getting rid of the player with the most assists from last season?
I'm not saying he should be starting week in week out, just that there are other players who I'd be looking to move on first.

Im not a Tom hater, but if he starts next season as the main guy with JHC then we will finished no higher than 12th and may as well write the season off.Im not against him staying as a squad player, but lets be honest the 2 years he has been here as one of our main strikers his return has been truely shocking. Its proven that he is not a goalscorer, which is the job he is paid to do.But there is something there in him as a squad player and playmaker for us.

I was told by a director when I was at the club last week that JCH likes playing alongside Nichols, Nichols lacks confidence so has I think given up on scoring and seems to be content on creating chances for other players which suits JCH down to the ground. So the two may play alongside side each other at some point again this season. Just goes to show how little directors know about football

We don't have the option of moving him on, because no-one wants him. We were sussed out at the end of last season (bar the freak Barnsley result). JCH is our only goal threat - stick 2 defenders on him and that's are goal threat nullified. Tom Nichols has gone into hiding. He doesn't want responsibility for putting the ball in the net (which correct me if I am wrong, is what we pay him for. He was a replacement for Snake Bench-Warmer). He doesn't ever get in dangerous positions. He is a luxury in mid-field as he is powder puff light and easily knocked off the ball. No pace. No heading ability. No tackling ability. No physical strength. He occasionally has a good first touch though. So that's all right then.

For his size, Nichols hold up play is excellent and does well against bigger defenders. It's just his goal threat/finishing which is the issue. I actually think we're a better side when Nichols plays.
