Lets face it, Mensah isn't going to play for us, Rollin I would say only has a small chance of playing, and Bennett has a club that wants him, but cant afford him. When Swindon say they hope "Rovers will do something" Is that let him come for free, or let him come and pay some of his wages. I think if we don't want him then let him go on a free but not pay anything else, just tell him he wont get a game at this club again. There's no way Swindon will pay a fee then stump up the rumoured £4K a week wages, the best we can hope for is some deal where we have to contribute something towards his wages.

They would be getting an really decent league two winger, already in contract with a league one club and who proved himself with them last year. We would be silly not to ask for a fee in my opinion. Unlike Mensah, Bennett has been getting game time during pre season so it’s still conceivable that he’s part of Coughlans plans, Swindon will have to come in for a deal that suits us and the player if they want to sign him.

Looked good when playing for Wales, not seen him much in domestic football, the talent is obviously there guess it’s time to see whether the temperament is.

Seriously good signing if it happens. A sign of intent on Oxfords part as well. UTG!

Woodburn is an incredible signing for Oxford.
They’ve got some very talented midfielders. Just lacking a couple of strikers up top to get the goals.

I don't see why not, it wouldn't be the first time Swindon spent money they didn't have in that league.

Just remains for them to sign Ched Evans or similar now and they have a very decent side indeed. I just don't see how they would survive in the Championship - Feels a bit of a waste of time.

Blimey most of L1 may as well not bother then!

But it’s true isn’t it .. the vast majority couldn’t compete other than a couple of seasons max. It’s becoming a YoYo division for under performing Championship Big Boys. In our current format we would have little chance either but with investment we just might gain a foothold.

Yeah I don't disagree with you at all. I say get there first, and then worry about how to stay there.

Are we still making a marquee signing or is that off now?

But I think Oxford have had investment over the last year, which is why they are spending quite a bit this window. Them and Posh have pushed the boat out a bit and will be looking for a good season. Yes, you are right about it being a yo-yo division for some clubs but the plan must be for clubs to get there, have a plan to play decent football, recruit within their limit and hope to stay there. If they get there then I would have thought they will have a decent team, manager and stuff that goes with promotion. Perhaps we’re finding them looking to do well slightly frustrating as over the past 4 years we’ve been pretty similar, if not better and have usually had the better of our encounters esp at their place. If you don’t try then everyone may as well give up, not just smaller clubs. UTG!

I think it’s going to be a tough division for sure ... if GC can get us competing and Top 10 I think that would represent real progress for me.

Got to be the signing of the month, always looked good when watching him play for Wales Could go either way, his career has been on the decline, since breaking onto the scene at an early age. A lot of fans are saying he's over hyped and will leave Liverpool soon. If he gets his career back on track, it will be a quality signing. If his form continues to dip and he suffers from injuries again, it could go the over way. On loan at Sheffield United last season and had injury problems and barely played.

After just 7 appearances "He was subsequently recalled from his loan by Liverpool where he spent the remainder of the season making sporadic appearances for the club's U23 side" Sounds like he's on a downward spiral!
