Yes, this is the part I don't get as well. If Hamer is such a negative influence then why wouldn't El Presidente just kick him out? I've never trusted Hamer personally but I also don't see the signs of this supposed rift in the camp, albeit I'm only looking from the outside in. The only oddity I've noticed was the weird appointment of Superfluous Starnes. But I didn't specifically see that as being caused by a problem with Hamer. Has an employment contract and no doubt severance package as well, sometimes it’s better to manage someone out. The fruit market rumours are true, I have no idea of what is going on but I imagine Hamer was involved some way at the start. Starnes is a good guy and experienced man, the club is being run in a much better way in unison with the manager, you could tell this last night listening to Cogs who is happy. I don’t think Hamer will be here long term, for all we know he could be working his notice, his wages could have been changed to an advisory role? Starnes runs the day to day side of the club today who Gorringe reports into. So many fans ask questions but it’s obvious and clear to see he is still hear for a reason, again no one knows if say we are in protracted sale talks and he’s the one staying on under a new regime. Not being patronising but this happens in business all the time, some fans think it’s just like dumping a girlfriend but many live in unhappy marriages while the divorce is sorted!

This is simply another thread again hammering the club, like PhilBemmy has said, 4 days to start of the season and we are talking about a photograph on the side of the pitch for last seasons player of the year. Mr Fax & Pager is big enough to fight his own battles and he is a registered Director at companies house. If he has an issue, represent the SC and act in the manner of the likes of Charlton, Newcastle and Bolton Supporters Club and make an official statement on the matter which the club has to publicly reply to because the media demand answers. It’s really tin pot and pure Banned word to get someone to do it hiding behind a user name on the forum to 300 members, proper Fax and Pager behaviour, we are in 2019. On to Saturday, I love Cogs mind games already, we are led to believe JCH is not fit yet and Blackpool and even us have no idea if he will play Saturday or to set up against us. Probably picked up the injury silence routine from dc.

The control freak is back to his best again, trying to run every area of the club, I don’t want a manager controlling transfer fees, do your job and coach pal. The same man had authority on Taylor and Bodin’s contract length and I’d have loved to have been at the presser today and said “why did you only get £300k for Taylor and Bodin then Darrell?” He will get “me fans” on board but will get found out again, just manage your team and players mate like Cogs, problem is he’s still having to manage your mess now with players like Bennett on £4K a week. A knighthood for being the best PR man for yourself ego in football.

Lets see if coughlan can get anywhere near what the previous manager achieved at the club. Hopefully he will. Bodin scored a few good goals at the end of the league 2 promotion season after having had a very serious injury. Rovers awarded him a 2 year contract which at that time made perfect sense imo. Easy in hindsight to say otherwise of course. Frankly i think someone who takes every opportunity to slag off dc is a proper Banned word,in fact even more of a Banned word than all the other ones you have mentioned.

BB, I loved DC but to compare the promotions that DC achieved against what GC is trying to do in League 1 is like comparing two completely different things. DC did so well in getting us back to where we are now but to say let’s see if GC can get anywhere near to that and that if he doesn’t he’s not as good is slightly ridiculous. Both are operating in very different leagues and the only comparison so far is that both have done well in League 1, DC for two seasons and GC for just over half a season. Both did / have done well and it seems a shame that we seem to be getting to a place where fans are either disrespecting what DC did or underestimating what GC did last season. It’s not a competition between them, they are both allowed to do well and get plaudits! Which they have done. We are all fans and I’m pleased to see every manager do well, earn respect and leave some kind of legacy. DC was great and GC has done very well in his time as manager. I like them both. UTG!

Come on mate, don’t use my favourite word, that makes you a sh**ter! Personally I won’t ever forget what DC for us and I would actually take him back in the future as long as he didn’t want to get involved in every area of the club or comment on things outside of his area, the football side. I know more than meets the eye on the Bodin contract talks, the board made a mistake in listening to DC. Any player is the club and boards asset, as owner you have to see fit in how you protect your assets and they have given Bodin what he wanted which wasn’t extreme. You can ask me how I know this, part of the same contact who told me about the 6ft 6 bald man signing.

In our history hardly any managers achieved anything at all, just a few are remembered for actually winning promotions or sometimes for producing a decent team that didnt win anything. Dc will be remembered in our history,we dont know yet if coughlan will be. Im not keen on posters like roadman, roady, roadrunner or whatever his name is this time telling us that GC is so much better than dc. We know what happened with dc,he got most things right for a long time but got things badly wrong in the last 6-12 months of his era. Lets just see what GC does in the same timescale and compare then.

You are so right, and maybe I repeat myself when I say -"it depends on the backing you get from the owner" - Gerry had it from the Dunfords, DC had great support from Nick Higgs and the BOD, it remains to see what help GC gets, but from where I stand I do not see that support forthcoming and suspect that GC will be looking for horizons elsewhere if the AL-Qadi's fail him.

Can the FD actually release anything or is he precluded from doing so by a NDA?? He will not be able to discuss official club business as he is bound by the rules of being a director. But he can happily comment on anything the SC are doing to help the club or want support for, which is what he should be doing. He's only bound by the rules he's agreed to be bound by. Other than saying something which could lead to a lawsuit against the club, he, as a director with a unique role, should be able to discuss issues he thinks are important from the perspective of the fans. If he has agreed to say nothing about anything, then his role is completely pointless.

But according to some one here, Nick Higgs was leading us to administration and DC had the smallest budget in L2 at the time he sold out to the ALQs? So just a couple of questions.. When DC wanted his back room team of sports scientists and additional physios...he wasn’t supported. When DC wanted to spend £370k on Tom Nichols, the board did not support him. When DC signed Bennet on £4K a week...the board did not support him. When DC signed Stefan Payne for £150k...the board did not support him. The board as I see it allowed DC and supported DC as much as they could, as our balance sheet of annual losses testifies and what GC is paying the price for in this window and possibly Jan too. The only thing DC didn’t get was his training ground and his stadium. But I would say he was one of the best supported managers we have ever had.

All I can ever remember him doing was a few charity walks, something loads of us gasheads have done without seeking any publicity for doing it. BSS when in the role did at least get some things done i.e extra TVs.in the bars etc and also posted on the forums, something Ken has not done unless he is using an alias for his user name? A fans director in its present form is not required as far as I am concerned and would require less prawn sandwiches etc etc in box one on match days.

Its not blind faith. If you read most of my posts on here I have been highly critical of our board and ownership. But I like to think I am a believer and speaker of truth and and happy to point out when I see a toxic agenda at play which is coming from inside our own club, connected to the board room via the SC and minority shareholders. Cynicism is one thing, but conducting yourself to ask the correct questions and present that in a manner to achieve results is quite the other. Masters will know exactly why the UWE fell through, as does Hamer and they will know how hard some people worked to get the stadium built in the past 12 months only for UWE to change their minds. The SC, over the past 18 months have shown pretty much to act within their own interests. GI, Knowall and a few others that post are contemporaries of Masters, who is in cahoots with Hamer to disrupt and cause trouble for the club in any way they can. This being an example, to try and cause dissent amongst the fans. Ask yourself, why has Hamer been stripped of all authority within the club? Why do we have a supporters club which works against, and not with the club? Why does a supporters club only have 25% representation (figures quoted from GI) of the fanbase? It should be closer to 60% if they were actually a force for good. The whole set up is poisonous at the top, and whilst I admit, a few won't support the view of those running it, the contempt those people have will filter downwards. Ah the truth. The truth according to who? You sound as much in Wael's pocket as you accuse others of being in a camp to plot against the club (when really you mean plot against him). Sounds like you have been hearing things lately from one side of the story and others have been hearing things from the other side. As always there are three sides to every story.
The supporters club are far less likely to have an agenda that will hurt the club than any owner including your new best friend who is a weak leader who has demonstrated that he has been unable to deliver on anything meaningful despite all the promises to do so and runs into hiding when there is bad news to deliver. Looks like he's now found a spokesman though just in the same way as the supporters club have found theirs. It would be a whole lot better if they all had the bollox to speak for themselves.
The only thing that really matters is the good of the football club and you play a dangerous fools game if you think that the current owners are more interested in the long term health of the FC than the supporters club are.
The truth always sits between the 2 camps and you just have to logically work out who’s telling more of it. As masters and hamer have a track record of being more than economical with it, and I’ve called Hamer out on it many times on here before, I can pretty much deduce that he is at the heart of such dissension as we have seen on this thread by GI. I’m not sure to whom you’re referring to as my best friend, no one can influence my friendships as to who they are and neither can you buy one from me. I’m far too smart a person to be blinded by bull 💩 and I don’t suffer fools. Which is why it’s so easy to take GI apart on this thread and connect the dots all the way back to where most of the trouble and vociferous rumours start in the first place. If you’re dumb enough to believe otherwise then more fool you.

I think with the wave of optimism that greeted the new owners arrival and the prospect of the UWE and training ground DC’s mantra was the Rovers fans deserve better whereas GC has adopted be thankful for what you have, which suits the situation we now find ourselves in. GC’s toughest test will come when he has to sell his goal scorers.

DC did get backed.
He also brought in big money by developing players whose careers were going nowhere and selling them at big profits.
He also delivered two promotions and pretty much dragged our club up by the bootstraps from its lowest ever point.
He also engaged with us as supporters at a time when we desperately needed something to believe in. Remember his Radio Bristol interview days after relegation?
I'd say he earned the right to be backed.
But Wareham's right. We are allowed to like and rate both DC and GC. It's not a competition. How about we judge them both separately on what they achieve(d) and stop comparing them. Different times. Different approaches. Different managers.
It is strange though that our most successful and arguably one of our best managers ever gets more criticism than the no hopers of recent years like Buckle, McGhee. I don't understand that at all.

We just lost £3.4 million, ok we have a 3 more directors now including Hamer and Gorringe and a London office but that would take it too something like £2.8 million if we took that off.
DC wanted an academy, back room staff, sports science, best budget a manager has been ever given and clarified by the EFL which showed it was mid table with the worst ground in Div1.
Ok he never got his ground and training ground, but the one he had he season before brought the BEST HOME RECORD in the UK. So the rust on the stands in 12 months never made us lose that 4-0 to Doncaster before he broke down and cried to the media and was sacked.
I hope Cogs delivers mid table and above this season on a lesser budget than DC, some might wake up and smell the spin which Alastair Campbell and Tony Blair would have been proud of.

And if people are handing out the best manager ever award it goes to a man who assembled a team at a non league ground, still non league today. A man who sold the first £1 million keeper and replaced him with a free transfer. Sold our star striker Penrice for £500k and replaced him with a right back from Stoke for £90k and converted him to a striker.............after he sold all these players on that ground he went onto lift the Div 1 (Old Division) Championship and doing it beating Bristol City and I witnessed all of it.
Regardless of league status, we are much nearer to extinction in 1986 when we went to Twerton than when we went to Alfreton. How many have witnessed Championship football on here? Thank you Gerry, our best manager ever.
