Just listened to GC's pre-match interview. As regards bringing players in, left me totally underwhelmed!

No, but if JCH scores goals, he'll be gone in January. I'm not writing anyone off, but the evidence of the first game was disturbing. But if JCH goes in January then the January transfer window will be open. At the moment, up front it no a priority. You can't expect strikers to score without the service. The state of play with Bristol Rovers transfer plans as Graham Coughlan confirms striker hunt continues The Gas boss was in the market for 18-goal striker Ched Evans Coughlan said: “I am certainly looking [to add a striker] as well. If the right one came up, we lost one yesterday who went away to Fleetwood, Ched Evans was somebody that we liked, but again out of our remit. “Unless I can get favours, unless people are willing to do me a turn we might have to move one or two out and make adjustments here, there and everywhere to try and get what we want. “It is a difficult process, it is not as easy as I had imagined all those years as a football fan, as a coach, as a player. I just thought you could go out and get what you wanted in the market but I am learning the realities of football.” Coughlan said: “I would have liked to have everything in the building that I wanted. I would have liked to have more. We need more. Getting them is the issue and the problem. "There are players out there that we want, there are players we know that we want, that we have identified, but A matching demands, B getting them across, C cutting through the red tape, there are loads of different bits and pieces which come into play. “I have got several bodies here at this moment of time. There are a load of variables and things that need to be moved around before we can actually go pursuing people in the transfer market.” www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/state-play-bristol-rovers-transfer-3188200

Surely Coughlan can't expect Deon Moore to break into a team which will consist of 5 decent strikers in as little as 3 weeks by signing another one? Could this be a sign of Tommy Nichols leaving?

Money. It's all about money. And if we really are looking to build at the Fruit Market, it's going to be tighter than ever.

Time for Wael to pull his finger out. I agree Pirate! Stop lying in press conferences about maximum budgets and invest in the squad.

Prob not. We've still got nearly a month left until the window closes. Just read that GC is after a striker though which surprises me. Surely midfield should be the priority. We desperately need another striker. Teams will know that JCH is our Obe Wan Knobe (our only hope) and will take steps to ensure he is neutralized. It's pretty easy to defend when t'other mob only has one option. Do we? Desperately need something in midfield to create for the strikers we do have. Our strikers don’t miss chances because we create so few. UTG!

Bury are 1 of 92 football league clubs but if it proves your point and means you can defend the club AGAIN then why not eh?

Time for Wael to pull his finger out. We can’t add more to the debt, so you are asking the son of a Jordanian banker to gift his own money to the club. More chance of hell freezing over.

Depressing when the likes of Fleetwood bring in Evans after winning at Peterborough last Saturday with three goals all from new signings. The first goal laid on by a quality midfielder Paul Coutts after four minutes, again another new signing from Sheffield United. Strange how our Manager visited the club right at the end of last season and both Evans and Coutts were available and we ended up with a young inexperienced striker from there on loan. Either our owners are not prepared to put their hands in their pockets or DC paid over the odds for distinctly average players. As things stand I see no reason for us to improve on last season with our present squad with the likes of Sercombe, Rodman and Bennett, players who were very poor last season, being relied upon to create us goal scoring opportunities.

I can read numbers and there is a finite amount of money to spend. We have managed to bring in EIGHT players in this transfer window. Lets not pretend we havent been able to get anyone in and we still have til the end of the month

I don't get why GC's mentioned Chad Evans again as we were clearly never going to afford him. Paul Smyth, who signed for Wycombe and scored on his debut, is surely the type of player we should be targeting and can actually afford rather than players out of our price range who probably don't want to leave the north west anyway.

I’m doubtful we are making the most of what little money we do have. Seems to be that once again JCH will have to carry us except this time we may not even have the defensive solidity to back him up.

I was about to say that the positive is that at least GC knows the players to get if he did have the money but then like you say is it that difficult to adjust to more realistic players that might be in our price range? Hindsight is a wonderful thing but when you look st the high expenditure in recent years instead of spending it on masseuses or whatever we really should have made scouting the priority and bugger the rest because our transfer activity has been more miss than hit since promotion to league one and this close season looks to be no exception.
