It's not the same as a normal organisation though, is it? You wouldn't expect a corporation to talk about under performing employees in the press, would you? You also wouldn't expect them to a written warning either for it, would you? Hell, you even get presidents/prime ministers say they won't trade with other specific businesses & countries. Do they get written warnings? A football club isn't the same as a normal organisation, if we start treating them like one though - then the fun of football will be dead. God forbid managers & players ever have any banter. With respect that’s the attitude of someone who wants to revel in the new Crazy Gang tag that Hamer came up with. One minute people care about the clubs professional’s image, the next they lap up nonsense like this about our manager bringing up a rivalry that is nothing to do with us. Can’t have it all ways... What does this have to do with Hamer? I completely against the bloke... I'm not trying to have things both ways, I'm actually saying that your argument can't have it both ways. You and/or oldie seem to want GC to "represent the club in a positive fashion, as in all reputable organisations" - I'm saying that fine, if you want that then don't expect him to talk about individual player performances or budgets because you wouldn't see a "reputable organisation" doing the same. We're a football club, and whether you believe what he says is "nonsense" or not a problem is opinion based.

You know, I think he has. For as many unhappy Rangers fans (god knows anyone would even care), there will be even more happy Celtic fans. Written warning over this? F*ck me. Personally I'm glad GC is able to have a bit of banter & a joke with the press. It shows the relationship he has with them & the feeling in the squad. I'd much rather GC's interview style than John Ward's. No written warning, carry on as you are & ignore the children GC. I have no idea which, or what sort of organisation you work for, but as a senior manager he has a responsibility to represent the club in a positive fashion, as in all reputable organisations. Making adolescent comments to the press when discussing potential (if imaginary) transfer targets makes the club look silly and unprofessional. If we were a firm of insurance brokers, or merchant bankers, I might agree with you, but we are not. This is a football club and passion and humour (and despair) are part and parcel of football life.
We all know Graham has a leaning to Celtic and is from Dublin. We are all in on the joke in both directions.

Of course. But GC is a well paid professional working at L1 in one of worlds top leagues. His comments were not racist, or offensive per se. What they were are stupid, pathetic and did not cast the club in a good light. Written warning
B@llocks ....as Chubby Brown might say.
Sure, let's run the club like a teenage amateur club.

Sure, let's run the club like a teenage amateur club. Of all the amateurish things this club has done over the years, you are sensitive to this obviously self-effacing joke from a Celtic supporting Irish manager, that on a level of 1-10 in the sectarian stakes barely makes the needle flicker.
I've talked to Rangers supporting friends and they all saw the funny side of this.

A lot on their forum haven’t, some were actually pleased though as they now have their “team in the English league to hate” sorted. But how is that relevant to Rovers? I hear you ask...about as relevant as which team our manager supports...

Some fair points there I admit...but I wish he would stick to telling us about performance and budget and keep his own personal allegiances to himself as the fortunes of two clubs hundreds of miles away are nowt to do with Bristol Rovers. He had a choice of saying “I don’t comment on other people’s players” or “buy players from Rangers? You must be joking!” and unfortunately he chose the latter and as expected it was certainly noticed and caused ripples north of the border.

Fair enough, I honestly don't see a problem with it but of course you're entitled to your opinion. He was probably caught off guard and was having a laugh with it. No problem from my end. As for the ripples, what ripples? Admittedly I haven't checked a Rangers forum, but I very much doubt Rangers fans really care either way. Imagine the other way if McInnes at Aberdeen was asked about a rumour about him signing a Rovers player. If he said "Rovers? You've got to be joking?" - Would you really care? In fact - that's not even a fair comparison, because Rangers to us is probably the same as Us to Chippenham, would you care if a Chippenham manager said that?

Does that make any difference at all?

Does that make any difference at all? To be fair, it's probably best the club just gets shut down, nowt more serious that 'causing ripples on a fans forum north of the border', it's only a matter of time before the EFL throw us out of the league, so think it's best we jump, before we are pushed. It was all fun while it lasted. See you up at Mangos.

*IF YOU ALL HATE GLASGOW RANGERS, ALL HATE GLASGOW RANGERS, ALL HATE GLASGOW RANGERS CLAP YOUR HANDS* Always intrigued me, the chant in the 70s ;
We hate .........., We hate .......... too, We hate ............., but Rovers we love you.
I could understand inserting City, but I wasn't sure why at various times Aston Villa and Fulham also made it onto the hate list.

We were still singing that at Twerton in the 80s and 90s.
But then we sang a lot of songs then...
