Would’ve liked that as an away day, or an easier draw to progress to the 3rd round. Underwhelming tbh, can’t see a shock. Brighton are 4th in the Premier League, how can you underwhelmed?

Potentially live on Sky although I assume they'll got for Newport (v West Ham) yet again.

Brighton have Southampton the weekend before and Man City the weekend after ... Even so we would be big underdogs against a rotated Brighton side. Home advantage might help us but it will be a tough game.

Brighton were diabolically bad last season, I’d be more enthused if we were playing them. Early signs under Potter are that they have changed their attitude and are a bit more progressive and forward thinking. Hard to look past a fairly routine win, even for Brighton’s reserves.

I’m quite happy with that. Would have struggled to go away on a midweek night but a prem side at home is all good . UTG

Newcastle, Leeds or West Ham away for me. Was never going to be 2 of those. The 2nd round is still regionalised.

I know they are a prem side, but I dont see the draw of them. They are normally just like Bournemouth,Huddersfield,Hull etc - L1 level Clubs.
That being said, they will bring 1500 and given there in the prem we should pull a gate of between 7k- 9k.If Im off I will work I will go.👍

5k will be more like it. I can’t see them bringing many more than 7/800. Brighton to Bristol return, on an evening match is surely one of the worst jaunts these shores have to offer.

I expect there are a number of people originally from that way residing locally who will appreciate seeing their side play in Bristol.
And there will be plenty of people interested in a competitive fixture in Bristol this season, as City won't necessarily have one this season now unless they manage to pull off another decent cup run. So I'd be surprised if we don't give them a minimal allocation anyway.
I'll be surprised if it doesn't get at least close to selling out.

Decent draw, I would expect a fair few would travel up from GOSBTS, and a premier league team should interest a fair few of our support. I doubt the league cup is a priority for them either, despite their excellent start to the season, I reckon they'll still want to concentrate on the league so could well be a rotated side.

They were always a L1 club until 2011 - from the early 1980's. They are pretty much the same sized club as us, but got a new ground and had good management to the prem.. They dont get me buzzed to play them... I remember playing them in 2007/8 at home when they were getting crowds of only 6k.

I think you may be a tad exaggerative to say they are the same sized club as us, but I see what you're saying. Thing is yes they were getting low crowds back then but they were playing at the Withdean which was probably one of the worst grounds for football anyone has ever had in this country. Atmosphere shocking, far from the pitch, etc, and it didn't hold much more than that anyway. If they had the Amex in L1 I think they'd be getting crowds of 15-18k or so, similar to City at the original Ashton Gate. Let's not forget that Brighton had a few years in the top flight back in the early 80s so they have more history than us as well. I'm not saying we don't have similar potential but I'd say in a straight up "who's got the biggest club and biggest potential fanbase" Brighton would beat us in my opinion.
