Probably closer to 50 years! In 1989 we were at Twerton and probably averaging closer to 5000. Looks like 1976 having just checked a website but not sure if its accurate. Bloody hell ! Correct Tommy european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/brir.htmWe came close most recently in 2017 with 9,302 but before that it was back in the 70s. The 50s have been our best era but I wasn't going then!

First two paragraphs - sad but true - nail on head - the heart and soul of the club up for sales to highest bidder.

I agree with the whole report. Last night at home v gillingham the manager selected 9 defensive minded players. Who wants to watch a team set up like that?

'A club with its heart ripped out'
More like a club on life-support. Will the plug be pulled or will there be a miraculous recovery? In the meantime we all stand around fearing the worst and hoping for the best.

More like a club that's gone to a yearly check up at the Doctor's and the Doctor's said 'lose a bit of weight and stop smoking, see you next year.'

Must be 30 bloody years. Gates are disappointing though. We played & lost 2-1 to Gillingham on Tuesday 27th November last season. The attendance that night was 6983 , so the missing 3500 seems to be a bit of an exaggeration. To me making ifollow available for everyone on a home night game seems crazy as I am sure it must have an effect on the gate as the option of paying £10 instead of getting home from work and battling through the Bristol traffic to attend the match pretty appealing. Even the clubs official webpage yesterday which I would have thought would have been trying to encourage people to attend & spend money on tickets, programmes ,food & drink etc was plugging Ifollow , which to me is counter productive. Ah, but you don't get to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a ginsters pasty......oh sorry theres no atmos at the mo and I wont even comment on the latter bit

Thanks Steve, your sentiments at the beginning of your report, I agree with the majority of it. We had real momentum and enthusiasm and felt we had a fabulous future of improvements to look forward and to enjoy. This has not be managed or tempered but taken away over a shortish period quite abruptly. We have not done our usual of some minor hope to it not quite happening, which we have had over the decades, to something much more like we are going to be proud and something meaningful to no we absolutely aren't - I fell for it and the demoralising feelings feel stronger this time because the promises seemed so close and real. I don't like GC's style of play, it is dross, but I will say we do have some decent footballers. We do still have a ground to play in, and the team wear the quarters. I cant see how we will lift from here this season, so if we can somehow keep mid table, watching sh**e football, with crowds which will be starting with a 5 rather soon, then that's probably it. How to get the atmos back into the ground, we wont this year. I feel a pessimist at the mo, not my style since being a gashead, but its where we have been taken. Shame on the owners and the new super management structure, wtf and what rights did they have? You are far from being alone. The friend I go with has always been fiercely defensive of all previous boards and he has only missed games when on holiday. I phoned him to ask what time we would be leaving and his reply was, I am just not feeling it now and it just feels flat at games. We have been close friends for over 40 years and I’d have put my house in him never coming close to feeling like this let alone vent it. For me, it’s the lack of ambition that is turning people off of coming. We had the best forward momentum I’ve ever know, after promotion back to L1 but we never pursued and built on that. I would hope that investment bankers would know all of the tricks, to get money to the manager and team but it seems that is not a priority. I enjoy nostalgia as much as any older gasheads but this is not Eastville nor Twerton. We cannot expect to move forwards by trying to do the same. As always, I live in hope of better to come. Thanks for the report stevek192, always good to read when I’ve been unable to go. Top man

I don't Blame GC for the style of football he is playing, he is dealing with the cards he has been dealt with and with a massive cut in budget for the whole club he is doing what he can We're losing £3m a year Henbury. Inevitable budget cuts will happen and rightly so. It will be a fair chunk more if the people stay away. Sometimes it really needs strong and decisive leadership to get things more positive. Like @henburygas says, we get no updates and this, inevitably, leads to more speculation plus our average age of supporter is not a young one. I think people would be happier just getting a little positive news and not left to ruminate and think we are a club with zero ambition. It really is time for a call to arms, from the owners, IMO anyway

One of our problems is that we have a continental goalkeeper who parry’s and punches instead of catching What has that got to do with anything? It means he's tyred.

If a takeover really is happening, then presumably it has been in the pipeline for months, so the AQ's wouldn't have been going balls out to spend money on making the squad better. Therefore, GC might have been told to make the best of it but at all costs keep us in this league ? No idea of course, but it might be that this year we survive by the only means GC knows which is to set up not to lose. In reality, there are more than 6 better squads than ours, so if we ended up where we are come May i'd be very happy.

Top man In the last 20 years I have certainly watched worse styles of play, with worse results, with more grossly incompetant players. 12 in L1 after 8 games really isnt that bad. People seem to think that the owners can bend the SCMP framework to generate more cash. You cant. You either have to donate the money to the club (and if the owners businesses arent generating the capital to freely do that then they can't or won't, sometimes owners just dont do it) or the stadium has to generate you more revenue (the mem cant, its prettty much topped out). People complain about us losing money and being in debt and yet they want us to spend more money we dont have....?? GC has a very good budget but it has largely been spent by the previous manager on players that arent good enough to start first team games. As someone pointed out to me on tuesday, we had £8k a week sat on the bench in 2 players...players that GC didnt sign and probably doesnt want.

I really don’t understand your continued use of DC as the sole blame for 3 million pa debts. That is just not true. It’s a cop out and does not give anything close to a true and real reason for the scale of debt. The other thing, the owners are charging a tidy 6% margin on top of that debt. Does that not tell you anything ? The office has been done to death but DC certianly was not responsible for 3 million of debt per season.

Agree with your match report Steve I think the off field leadership at the moment is disgusting When was the last time we had a statement on the website from Wael and the owners When was the last time we had a report from our CEO ? I don't Blame GC for the style of football he is playing, he is dealing with the cards he has been dealt with and with a massive cut in budget for the whole club he is doing what he can Tom G was charged with making the match day experience better, well let's just look how well he has done Big screen TV, shows the team sheet which by the time that appears most already know the team, occasionally show historical match highlights. It not been put there for the fans enjoyment, it's there so they can sell more advertising. Catering, food is better but is also 4 times what it would cost in a shop, food cockups still being made, chocolate which has bloomed, food turning up at the kiosks late etc etc to quote a saying........"every time there is an improvement, things get worse " Scrolling adverts around the pitch, again not for fans enjoyment but so they can sell more advertising. Not quite the promised land not even close, and none of the "improvements"above are to give the supporters a better match day experience but to bombard the crowd with advertising.

Tom G is the commercial manager. selling advertising is literally a big part of his job
don't forget more revenue, means more money that can be spent
There has been a survey the last 2 seasons for feedback. Go and listen to the Gascast interview with Tom
what would you like to see? Not everything has gone right, but I see a bloke doing a lot to make things better. He can't build a stadium himself or manage the players

TG was charged also with generating extra revenue that can improve our playing budget and reduce our losses. How do you expect him to do what without selling advertising on the hoardings and Big Screen TV? Would you rather we didn't have these things and the club loses even more of its ability to recoup losses? You also seem to forget that he has also managed to create a fan survey, fan's forum, redecorated the bar and renovated the club shop and added some additional family seating. Don't get me wrong the family stand is embarrassing in it's appearance, and the other things are "big woop" but he is trying to make the best of our antiquated facilities and I would say he's done a pretty damn good job as well. I would suspect his hands were tied with the family stand as it probably looks so crap due to the amount the owners were willing to spend on it.
