Love F1 too. The British Grand Prix is a world class event which is once a year. How much is F3 to watch, ive no idea myself but would be more comparable i suppose to third tier football. I went to watch BTCC at Donington Park and it was about £30 for the day. Cheers, that's good racing, used to watch it when on the BBC and that's good value. Some right dirty tricks in that racing but great viewing.

I just went onto the ticket site to look at the price of going to the Portsmouth home game. The price for one adult and one juvenile in the SW stand is £39.50 including booking fee. Seems expensive to me for a seat in a tent that is right in the corner of the pitch with several stanchions blocking your view.
For comparison, 1 adult and 1 juvenile ticket for Shrewsbury v Sunderland on the same day, sat in a similarly placed seat (in a modern stand with no stanchions) is £28 plus booking fee.

There has been plenty of talk as to why attendances are down. I suggest that it's more a case of getting back to normal. For three years I think that we benefitted from the Darrell factor - charismatic manager and two promotions on the bounce. As an irregular visitor to the Mem I thought I'd give some explanation as to what factors influence whether or not I go to games. As a background I typically watch 10 games a season with my two teenage sons (including two or three away games). In order of importance 1.Time/opportunity - with three children the opportunity isn't always there 2.Cost - it's a considerable cost to take the three of us. I'd like to see a few 'quid a kid' type promotions 3.Standard of football(entertainment) - I'd say that the last two years have been dreadful. I saw fewer games last season than usual. I thought todays game showed improvement 4.Keenness of my boys - if they want to go then I'll make more of an effort (bit of family bonding). Last year the oldest was bored with the football, this year he seems keener - partly explains why we've been to 4 games already. 5.Weather 6.Is it an important game? - like anyone else big games carry more weight 7.General air of negativity - I discovered this forum at the beginning of the year and whilst I find it fascinating my word is it depressing at times 8.State of the pasties - they used to be great and part of the matchday experience for my boys. Not so this year. . . . 99. Are we getting a new stadium? - Don't understand why this is a consideration 100. Are we getting new owners? - Again don't get it - it's not of the slightest concern on a matchday to me, my sons, my brother, my cousin, my colleagues or anyone else I know .. Brilliant post. Been going for 40 years. My number of games per season has mostly been determined by my life circumstances rather than the quality of football or ownership matters.

Season Ticket holders can bring TWO friends to the MK Dons game for £10 each. Hopefully this deal is taken up by many ST holders and we deliver another 3 points in front of our biggest crowd of the season.

Some right dirty tricks in that racing but great viewing. Thats about the equilvilent of professional racing in tier form to L1 football as I can think of. Again, thats for a ticket on the banks, you can sit in a covered grandstand for about £50-£60. Its a day thing though with 3 BTCC races, Ginetas, F3, Ford and Porsche Supercup races so you get to see plenty of action. You can go to Castle Combe and watch a load of amateuers race for £20 for the day and see some thrills and spills. Which is a bit like watching conference football.

Just had a track day round there for my birthday, i got to drive a Ferrari Continental round four four laps. Then a racing driver took me on a proper lap, very enjoyable.

But that was more than £20 though!!! I also did it for my birthday at Thruxton - Aston Martin Vantage and Porsche Caymen. Agree BTCC is about the equivalent level to watching league 1 football.
I used to go to Castle Combe a lot back in the early 80s watching Minis getting written off at Quarry corner every other race . As I said earlier, watching professional sport can be expensive, especially if its every other week and you are taking the whole family!

You have to take into consideration supply and demand, it's likely all the SW stand seats will sell out for the Pompey game, whereas Shrewsbury will probably have loads of seats unsold.

“Season Ticket holders can take advantage of a special ticket offer for the visit of MK Dons and bring two friends to the Mem for £10 each!”
After all the doom and gloom the past few months, the manager and these lads have earned our support and I hope we reward their efforts with our attendance.

Footy is very expensive when you take the family, mine are all grown up and can pay for themselves so i'm fine now.

As my season ticket is for East Stand seats and there are no available seats, does that mean my guest attenders would have to go and stand in the covered end?

I would have thought your guest tickets would allow access to the Thatchers terrace & the east terrace below where you sit , but may be worth checking with the club.

If you check on the "my tickets" tab it seems you can buy 2 tickets in any part of the ground apart from seating in the two main stands.

Mine are also grown up, but if on the odd occasion they come to football its still me that pays - pretty sure they wouldn't bother if I didn't pay.

So contacting the club and asking does work sometimes - hopefully we'll get an 8,000 + crowd for MK game - the least the players deserve ! UTG !

Thats a good point, while I was queing up for my ticket Saturday I was debating where to stand/sit. I went in Blackthrone in the end as the cost of the ticket was £4 cheaper than the south Tent.I always buy a sausage roll, have a pint and get the bus from Kingswood to the Mem.So that adds up to a £40/£50 day spend. I share driving with a friend and we have given lifts to a few. I live in Kingswood so let me know and I will try to drive you. On my non driving days it’s more like £50 or more. Many thanks for the offer mate.Might take you up on that one day.👍
