The fan base and club seems so low at the moment and makes me ponder what impact someone like Ollie could have had. Too late now of course, but doesn't stop me thinking what might have been.

You said we should snap up Ben Garner. Make yer mind up. Actually, as I've said it time and time again, I didn't want Garner this time around. gaschat.co.uk/post/574042

I quickly discovered he was a great talker and networker. Unfortunately nowhere could I find he was a great manager. Mind you, you’re weren’t alone in falling for the crap he espoused. The board did as well. I detect a slight backtracking on your part at least.

Things change quickly in football and I would've had 5 or 6 candidates ahead of him with this appointment. There are certain extenuating circumstances, but so far his tenure has been abysmal. I'm willing to give him until the summer to see if there are any tangible signs of improvement and something to give us hope for next season, but if not, he has to go.

Tomorrow IMO, is bigger match for the Manager personally than it is for the Club. The season is effectively over and now a non event - lose against a very poor Shrewsbury team and his position surely, is untenable. The team will have totalled just 9pts against a possible 51 pts - sadly IMO he's totally out of his depth.

I think that BG's position is safe regardless of tomorrow's result. We will stay up this season. I think it would be wise, but very frustrating, to see what he can do for the remainder of the season. If the dire results continue it will be time to part company. If, by some miracle, results upturn we can go into next season with a modicum of optimism.

The crazy thing is that Ollie would have been up for it as well, despite his issues with the current board and some lingering bad feelings over how his departure from his first tenure was handled.
He is a force of nature though, I could have seen him really galvanize this club.

Its becoming clear now why Holloway was attracted to the Grimsby job. He has now been made Director responsible for all footballing matters there as well as Manager plus they have a new ground in the pipeline.

Its clear that he will not be sacked if he loses today, nor before the end of the season.Earliest it will be is in Sept/October if results dont change. In some ways I like it as I hate what football has become over the past 10 years in regards to not giving managers a long period of time to build at any club. But there has been the excuses of Family problems,to many games,no time to train, injurys, bedding in new players etc.Now after the Blackpool win we need to see much improved performances and results to follow. The board,or wael will not give him the boot as its a longer term project they see him as and the style they want to bring to us. But imho, BG seems like a nice guy but I have not been impressed with what he has brought to the club thus far in terms of results or his great style of football being played and he does not inspire me that he can get results like GC did.
