They found the money 2 pay off Payne They did, but I believe there were a lot of rumours that Payne was a bad apple that they wanted out?

I reckon we could get a decent 12 months out of him. How many players have we seen put in performances when their contract is ticking down?
He certainly won't get a new deal from Rovers but I'm sure he will be keen to secure a contract elsewhere.

The frustrating thing with him is he is very talented. If he was more motivated, and committed, he would be a very good player I don't think he is talented. I agree he has a reasonable level of skill. However talented players apply their skill in a motivated way every single game. Craig, for example, had loads more skill than Bennett. Craig used his skills every single game; Bennett doesn't. Regarding his salary, I don't blame Bennett. He was offered a great contract and he accepted it. Most of us would have in similar circumstances. If we are in the blame game, the real responsibility lays with those who recruited a dud player and compounded the mistake by paying him a ridiculous amount of money.

The only person 2 blame for this fiasco is Darrell Clarke Or the person, or persons, who didn't question the madness of paying an average, on a good day, L1 winger £4,500 a week for 3.5 yrs, which will be an eye watering £819,000 in total plus agents fees and possibly bonuses/relocation costs etc.

Well, at least the bonus costs shouldn’t have been a problem.

He panicked at the end of the window and offered a ridiculous wage and contract length when he couldn't get anyone else and was turned down by Otis Khan etc.

Unpopular opinion maybe, but I think he's a decent player. The problem is actually trying to play him as a winger - which he is not. Slows play down and cuts in far too much.
He's best when he's free to roam in the final 3rd and find space to create chances for the striker. That kind of player is a bit of a luxury though I guess.

Shocking player. Lightweight, little end product. The sooner he's gone, the better.

I guess players do read this forum. Now if I was Bennett reading the comments on here would make me want to go and prove that he was not a lazy tw*t. I wonder what his team mates think of him which leads me think it could be divisive keeping him. I hope at least a loan be arranged again
