Shocking player. Lightweight, little end product. The sooner he's gone, the better. Hardly true reflection of his career, he's been a good player in the past, plus he was when he was at loan with Swindon, just that we've not got the best out of him for around 2 seasons. If he's not going anywhere this summer then BG's somehow got to get him playing like he did when he first joined us.

I guess players do read this forum. Now if I was Bennett reading the comments on here would make me want to go and prove that he was not a lazy tw*t. I wonder what his team mates think of him which leads me think it could be divisive keeping him. I hope at least a loan be arranged again I’m sure I read something a while ago which said he’s a good trainer and popular with his team mates. He’s still a waste of space and tying up a big chunk of the playing budget but might not be the unlikeable person many would like to believe? At best I think he will go out on loan for the season - fingers crossed that can happen as will be in everyone’s interest.

More interested in his business at the moment it seems, certainly puts more effort into that

Hes a lot better than people give him credit.
First 6 months = a very good player.
Last days under DC were a nightmare for everyone. If you can identify a player that did well during that period you're lying. Add to that DC played him in several positions included striker many times, (I didnt hate that- but he was asked to feed off the scraps "won" by big Stefan).
Under Cogs: wasnt liked, wasnt used. Buttttttt much like Kenny Jacket long ball wasnt suited to him neither was GC-ball.
Again at Swindon, in an equally as physical league- he did well. So the myth of lightweight is busted in my opinion.
I'm not gonna make out hes been a good signing. Nope- he was bad. But I think any reasonable person can see hes got his uses. The venom he gets for signing a 3.5 year deal is not justified.

Even when he impressed here initially it was mostly against teams that struggled or were were relegated that season. The likes of MK Dons, Bury and Northampton.

"Kenny Jacket long ball wasnt suited to him", but presumably was more suited to the 'flair' players like Ronan Curtis, Ryan Williams and Marcuss Harness who helped them into the playoffs this season?

As I say I wouldnt call him a good signing. But the reality is hes our most expensive player. Hes likely to be here next season. Theres no prizes for continuously shaming the bloke. Hes got enough ability to provide us some worth over the next 12 months. Those who just say get rid are not playing with reality.

Pushed out by Portsmouth Dropped by Darrell Cast aside by Coughlan Benched by Ben
Spot the common denominator! And some people feel sorry for him.

If he's here and no one wants to pay his contract, I have no issues with Garner trying to get a tune out of him. Better than nothing.

Get rid. So who's going to take a player on £4.5K a week off our hands, before CV19 we struggled, post CV19 I sense we've next to no chance unless we pay contribute something like £3K to £3.5K a week towards his wages at that cost it might be worthwhile seeing it we can get him playing again.

I was half joking. Looks like we are stuck with him unfortunately.

I feel sorry for the lad really. We've all been stuck in sh*t jobs at one time in our lives.
It almost sounds like he has fallen out of love with the game reading that interview. I hope he finds happiness in football during the next step in his career and he can look back on his playing days with fondness at the end of it.

I'm sure he is crying into his £4.5k a week and drying his eyes with 50 notes. Bless his little cotton socks.

As even did Kenny. He wasnt in the team to be "benched by Ben" but we'll let you have it. Only at Rovers would we throw away a fiver because it's not a tenner. It's not sympathethy. It's support.

I was going to say you are having a laugh, but no, its Bennett taking the wages that the club cant afford.
