So we’ve gone from 4th (and a whisper away from second) place in the league under GC to 11th place under BG - any conspiracy theorists got hold of this yet? Is this deliberate from the AQ’s cos they don’t want to lash out money if we somehow got promoted? Enquiring minds need to know . . .

No, we just have an inexperienced manager who is learning on the job, trying to get used to the players and get the players used to his own ideas. I don't think the Aq's would be bothered about us going up as could cause us more problems in the future but to suggest that we would deliberately lose games to not go up is ludicrous IMO.

Lose Tuesday and he’s also dumped us out of 2 cup competitions in less than 3 weeks. Good work

Yep obvious ploy from those on top. Lose loads of games , devalue club , devalue player values , pay out big sum to pay off manager on a contract of ? Years and shrink crowds to cash in. Master plan.

Not sure it's the AQ's fault for the debacle on the pitch apart from the appointment butwere there any real objections?
It sounds to me the players are not getting it, but haven't heard anything from the backroom staff since. I remember when Grayson took over without his own team and we know what happened next.

Needed an experienced manager to get us over the line

Take your pick we are a shambles at the minute. I’d say it’s largely down to multiple factors including a change in manager, a change in playing style mid way through the season which the lads are not used to, tricky games against teams up there Fleetwood, Coventry, Doncaster (not much of an excuse though), we’ve also been missing Ogogo who’s quite an integral part of the team when you think about it.
Most importantly though I think the players have been underperforming and they and the manager need to take responsibility for that. We let Doncaster play through us and have a lot of the ball and for large parts of the game didn’t offer anything ourselves. Must improve and fast.

Under Ben Garner we have gone backwards. Is there something going on behind the scenes? Are the players playing for Garner? This is worrying.

I think it’s quite simple really. GC set the team up as a solid defensive unit who played terrible football. He built a squad to play this way and found a way to successfully grind out results.
BG’s come in and tried to play good, attractive, passing football with that same squad. Chances are that’s not going to work, or the transition certainly isn’t going to happen overnight.
The options going forward are: 1.) We go back to the way we were playing, make ourselves solid defensively, lump it up to JCH and see what we can do with little technical ability on the pitch, but hope to keep picking up 1-0 wins. 2.) We back BG to bring in a few players who are more technically gifted and can play the football he wants to play, as well as trying to transform some of the players we have into players that can play that style of football.
I think option 1 is a short term fix which will mean we can consolidate but also probably means we’re going nowhere but League One mediocrity.
I’d personally rather go with option 2, back BG and accept it’s gonna take some time in a transition phase to turn things around. But with more risk, comes more potential reward. UTG!

Realistically we're not going to go down. That's not to say we won't or couldn't but with Bolton's perilous position and the appalling standard of Southend and Tranmere, it'd take us being especially poor to go down. However, we're currently playing like we belong in that area of the league...

Yeah, arguably option 2 is ok coz managers (especially new managers) would never normally have the luxury of half a season to find their feet with impunity (I say impunity, but we still need to get 51 points).

It's hopefully, and probably a pound down the drain but glad I put it on at 250/1 to get relegated.

Yeah I put the £4 I had left in my SkyBet account on the same odds - would cheer me up if the worst happened. Quite frankly, I'm confident we won't be near it by the end of season. Short term pain for long term gain is my hope but right now it's VERY worrying signs.
