With all the comments coming thick and fast on here I just wonder why so many think a new stadium is on the horizon? Yes the news yesterday combined with the training ground being started is fantastic given these difficult times we are in but why does everyone think the new stadium is just round the corner? I have heard a few people saying the FM is a go but let's not get too carried away. I'd love it all to be true but this is Bristol Rovers and rumours like this tend to end in tears. UTG!

Probably because MS said they are working on a stadium project and hope to announce it in the coming weeks, that was a couple weeks ago

MS has already said he hopes to give some stadium news in the coming weeks, so it's not just ITK'ers spreading nonsense. I also can't honestly see Wael committing to spending £2m on a new training ground if some progress hadn't been made on the stadium front.
So putting recent developments together points to the FM being announced shortly, but until work ever starts there's no point in getting to excited given what's happened in the past at Rovers.

As soon as the training ground was announced I took that as a good sign that something might be happening with the stadium. When nothing was happening with the training ground a couple of years ago and questions were asked, didn’t Hamer say something along the lines of “the owners don’t want to commit to investing until they know a stadium is on the way too”?
The news yesterday showing wael’s commitment again says to me that he’s happy to commit because he thinks his investments are about to result in something positive.

Like I’ve said elsewhere...... making Gorringe a director is a sign to me that a new stadium is on the way.

Great comments from you all and I really hope that there is something imminent happening! Yes the comments from Martin seems to be a positive but after Harmers comments ( the landing lights are on) I just hope we haven't jumped the gun again and for us gas heads to be let down once more! Fingers crossed Gas!

Like Yattongas said I think Tom Gorringe becoming a director is a massive sign.

100,000 mega stadium at the fruit market, with massive letters saying ‘inbred barstewards’’ on the roof looking over the river towards Knowle!
Heard it here first #WaelisaGashead #CarryHimDownGloucesterRoadAgainn

He also said the now infamous "the landing lights are on!"

Like I’ve said elsewhere...... making Gorringe a director is a sign to me that a new stadium is on the way. Forgive my ignorance but what does it actually mean for him to become a director/board member? Like obviously it's a massive step up and promotion for him personally but I'm clueless to understand what this actually means?

I've been waiting for 41 years for a Brand New Shiny Stadium to call our own, I just hope that by the time it's actually built I'll still be alive to sit in it......
I'll take the Training Ground as a positive step towards that goal.
PS I'm 47 next month so hopefully I've still got some time to go yet 🤞

He's been instrumental in the day to day running of the match day and non match day hospitality and commercial activities at both Cardiffs and Brightons new stadiums. He has also won awards at the Stadium Business Awards. Him being a director looks as though to me that Wael wants somebody with the expertise and knowledge of the whole of the Stadium management side of things.

Again, as others have said MS came out a couple of weeks ago saying some news about the stadium is likely to come out soon. Couple this with the fact that in the past is has been said that Wael will not commit to a training ground or financially until there is some movement on the stadium front. We now have a training ground on the way and Wael has made us effectively financially sound for the next few years. Seems like a giant step forward. Also, i dont know how reliable the posters are on OTIB but there seems to be a very convinced fella on there that claims that a £65 million deal has been done and that he has a friend who is a fruit wholesaler who has apparently 'just won the jackpot'. Make of it what you will. There are more ripples on the surface than normal and thats why people are talking about it. Im strapped in and ready, cant wait to see the plans!

A good while back when questioned on the fruit market site ,the club did say it was one of several sites they were looking at.
Whilst the focus is on the FM site that does not mean that's where the stadium will be. It's just where the rumours say it will be.
We know that area is to be redeveloped totally . That does not mean a stadium has to be part of that if it's not realistic for the club or other parties.
Wasnt that big derelict site and other buildings near fish ponds morrisons mentioned once ?

The site in Fishponds would not be viable due to the roads, too small to handle 1000's of cars/traffic. That's a definite dead duck for me but the location on a selfish note would be handy regards my family etc back in Bristol.

As you know the land in question is the old Parnell site therfore a definite no go in my humble opinion. I grew up in Eastville/Fishponds, besides there would be no support from the locals, local businesses yes but not from people with homes.

Fingers crossed Gas! This is so true. A few years ago everything was rosy and the new stadium was a done deal. Then we got sh** all over and had to endure several years down in the dumps. At least now we've got shot of that clown Hamer, and the older brother has no longer got his foot on the brake, but I think I'll keep my enthusiasm in check for the time being. I've been supporting the Gas for 60 years!

Not that I recall. Lyde Green and Severnside were plus Henbury suggested Cribbs.

Given he was already Commercial Director (?) Weal had his expertise to call upon anyway? Clearly something's a foot but god knows what. I assume TG and Karim are not the two "local businessman" who almost joined the board earlier this year? As far as the stadium not sure anyone is getting carried away but at least there's hope where there hasn't really been any since the UWE collapsed for a second time.
