You'll have spent the last three hours mixing with plenty of old people anyway. Rovers fans do tend to be long in the tooth.

Attendances will not be enough if the rules say only those who will bow to taking the vaccine or wear a face covering are allowed in. Are you suggesting wearing a mask is an act of subservience, or is this a different use of 'bow'? I guess what i am saying is...if I have to comply to wearing a mask to enter the Mem, I would see that as subservience. I've absolutely no problem with people voluntarily wearing one, along the lines of free choice. (i wonder if banks will let you in with one on? just a thought...)

A partial opening of stadiums would require an awful lot of planning by every club and would rely on a 'positive' can do attitude which i am not sure is universally there yet. If you banned away fans, a sensible start, and employed social distancing you could probably allow what, 2000 max in to the mem but given some 1500 of them would be season ticket holders it does not leave much scope for the club to get any extra income. As i said it would be possible, and if the staff required to open the stadium were mainly unpaid volunteers, of which i am sure there would be plenty, the club may be able to make it worth while. This coupled with streaming revenue from older fans like me who do not yet feel comfortable about large gatherings may help to keep the club afloat during these tough times, club could even do a home delivery of pies ,pasties and sausage rolls to make a bit extra! As i say it would require a great deal of planning so it would be unlikely to kick in till October at the earliest ,depends weather clubs think it worth while to bother with i suppose, but with the right leadership from the EFL(there's a first for everything!) and the will and desire by clubs and fans anything is possible. up the Rovers!

It needs to be a proportion of the stadium's capacity at first, so start with something like 25%, then when cases are even lower 50%, then when a vaccine is available whenever that might be reopen the entire stadium once again.
Makes more sense than what they're doing in France by allowing 5,000 fans in attendance, perhaps that makes sense at Old Trafford but at the mem a 5,000 crowd is enough to make it fairly packed the point where social distancing becomes a struggle.
Hand washing facilities, one metre plus rule being enforced and surfaces regularly sterilised also needs to happen too to eliminate the chance of the virus lingering. I think it will be possible to partially reopen stadiums by the end of the year but a lot of thought and preparation will need to go in to ensure it's a safe environment.

Hopefully we're planning now for all eventualities, it's only July how long does it take to work out where fans can sit or stand etc? Our issue is the shocking state of the toilets not i'm even sure you can make some of them compliant! As far as it being viable if we can get 2,500 fans into the Mem that's around £50K per home match, plus the more fans who attend games the more they are likely to buy replica shirts etc.

Is it in the Highway Code, then, to wear a condom when driving? I never knew that. Rats.

Just to keep you all updated, but I can’t see any spectators going into stadiums before 2021. Things not getting easier with local lockdowns.

I went to a match on Saturday in Prague, Dukla Prague vs Varnsdorf (which you can read about here if you like). It was an interesting experience, temperature checks while walking into the ground but when we were in, very little in the way of social distancing but my word it was lovely seeing football live again.

Why are you posting negative nonsense, MS only said on last week's VFF that he was hopefull of fans returning in September. Bristol/S Glos only had 4 new CV19 cars one day last week so I don't it's close to a local lockdown situation.

I cant see too many problems opening grounds in September. The problem comes in October and November, when the scientists seem to believe there will be a second spike.

England have this morning announced a behind closed doors friendly Vs Wales in early October. They also have Nations League fixtures at home to Denmark & Belgium in October.
All three of these matches are in a single week, with no supporters allowed in the stadium. I was confident before, but now have real doubts we will be returning to the Mem anytime before the new year.

Internationals are slightly different than domestic games as fans travel from all over England, plus the FA doesn't need the matchday income like EFL club's do, regardless if we can't watch games live we'll just have to watch them on iFollow. As far as the second wave all we can do is worry about that if it arrives later this year.
