Just to keep you all updated, but I can’t see any spectators going into stadiums before 2021. Things not getting easier with local lockdowns. I’m confident of partial attendances and a season starting mid September so bought my season ticket this morning. Looking forward to less traffic and parking closer to the ground!

I don’t see why sports stadiums can’t re-open soon. Hand sanitisers as you go through the turnstiles and everyone has to wear a face covering. Anyone with an underlying illness or in a higher risk category know the risks and can make their own decisions on whether it’s worth attending. and gloves. Think of the muffled sound when (if) we score

Down to just under 2 new cases per 100K in Bristol etc, we've probably more chance of being in a car accident/hit crossing the road going to the Mem than catching CV19 at the ground. Trouble is even if it was no cases for the next 6 weeks you only need one away supporter to have it and.... It's like Weston, the Brummies keep bringing it with them!!

Me and the mrs were going to take our little lad for a walk and ice cream last Sunday along the sea front, it was packed, no SD, no one wearing masks and I couldn't risk it so we went to sand bay instead, forfeited the ice cream but had a lovely quiet spot to ourselves for a couple of hours.

They have to have it and then pass it on to you, you could catch it just as easy, if not easier, at work or shopping, probably a damn sight easier in a pub!

Given the number of season ticket holders (has anyone heard current sales number?) then I doubt if a crowd setup for social distancing would mean much income as the stadium would be full. The bars may make a bit - maybe? Last season there weren’t any seats for sale in the West Stand as it was full with season tickets. I’m not sure but I think the East Stand was pretty full as well. As mentioned we are an ageing bunch of fans with more wanting/needing to sit and having the funds to afford it. Trying to work out who sits where with social distancing, who has to move, which groups are genuinely in the same bubble, who is running a temperature and isn’t safe to admit - none of these or the myriad other issues are ones I’d like to have to cope with! Oh, not to mention, what about those that decide the risk of attending is not worth it even though they have bought a season ticket? I have two but am I going to risk using them? Don’t know till I hear what the plan is. I suspect, like many others, I’m not that concerned about myself but I couldn’t live with myself if I brought Covid home to my partner (shielding) or took it to my parents (86 and 90, also shielding) or my kids (grown up and moved away but still ‘our kids’). Rovers is like a family to me but it’s not quite. Up The Gas!

If we have to sign in to pubs, which are reduced capacity, I imagine we'll be seeing the same at grounds to start with.
Also likely that you'll need to live within a certain radius, the fear would be that mass transit of fans from one part of the country to another to watch a game will equate to a mass transit of COVID (think Rotherham, Leicester or Blackburn right now). So no away fans unless it's a local derby, and fewer home fans who would normally travel in from Reading, Plymouth etc. Might even see restrictions on those from Gloucs and Somerset. That's a lot of regular fans.
Might well end up with some sort of registered supporters database, with games being all-ticket. If you aren't registered on the db or are without your two bits of ID on the day, then you aren't getting in.

Doncaster, Rochdale and Accrington however.......

Well, that would be my chances of seeing a home game any time soon gone then.

If capacity is limited and restricted solely to ST holders contacting people would be quite easy and not require further registration. Away fans is interesting but I suspect in the early stages (perhaps the whole of 20/21 season they won’t be allowed?)

I wonder if the EFL will move the start of next season back a few weeks in that case to meet their commitment of fans being in the stadium by the first game? Probably worth it if it only means a few extra games will be played in midweek.

Yep, talks about seating/social distancing but nothing about terracing/social distancing - which is more prevalent in the lower leagues. Also, as a specific example, you can only get in/out the West Enclosure in one place so will make a one way system problematic? Will have to see what happens as with all these things I suppose.

Maybe terracing will have to be painted in a grid format so that social distancing can be kept, with fans having to stand one box apart.
If so, we should alternate the boxes blue and white to make it look like the quarters.

Strange set of sports for the pilots, I can't see any really compare to a football or rugby fixture:
Two men's county cricket friendly matches - including Surrey v Middlesex at The Oval on 26-27 July;
The World Snooker Championship at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre from 31 July;
The Goodwood horse racing festival - known as Glorious Goodwood - on 1 August.
Somebody suggested making the EFL Trophy games pre season friendlies, you do wonder now whether playing those matches in September would make sense then starting the league season in October, although it's not clear why the Government couldn't the say mid Sept instead of October, as they must have known when the EFL were planning to start.

Agree with that. Probably seen as slightly easier/less problematical venues to start with to test the waters/system than a football/rugby match, maybe?

If so, we should alternate the boxes blue and white to make it look like the quarters. Do you think that would be necessary? If the ground is limited to approximately 25% initially (3000ish) a certain number would be distanced by alternate seats in the stands and then plenty of room on the terraces for the rest. I’d also insist on face coverings regardless of how many are in the ground. I’m not sure the above would be any more dangerous than a trip to the supermarket?
