I feel that since he has been at the club Abu has been our most effective midfield player, letting him go is a really bad mistake in my opinion

If Bennett doesn't take a pay cut and move on this window then I can see that almost being the end of his football league career. He has never played higher than league 1, will be 30 in less than a month and hasn't played regular football for over a year (wasn't consistently playing at Swindon). He may be picking up very good money sitting here and doing nothing but that could be at the expense of his career. He is the epitome of some modern footballers unfortunately when many youngsters would love to just out there being paid to do play the sport they love.

Will be sad to see Ogogo leave, not spectacular but always puts a shift in, and works incredibly hard for the team, which is what most fans like, regardless of talent.
Bennett is the complete opposite, and has been a complete flop.

Disappointing about Ogogo. Yes we have lots of midfielders now but they are all different type of players.
He may not be the glamorous type of player BG likes but who better to bring off the bench when you are holding onto a 1-0 lead?
We spoke about him or Upson going but again they are very different players. I understand if we play we three CB's then there is no need for more than one defensive midfielder in the team and we have Grant now, but would it not be best to still have two players for that position?
As for Bennett, the best we can hope for is someone to pay at least a percentage of his wages to take him on loan.

I think if it wasn't for his reported salary we'd all wish him well. Personally I don’t care if he’s on 4 grand or 2 grand I just don’t rate him as an overall footballer or his work ethic. I know, his salary for that doesn't help though right?

I think he’s overpaid and stealing a living but that’s down to having an agent who got him a good deal and our club paying over the odds for him. I don’t really blame him for earning good money. A bit like I don’t blame Taylor for going to the sh** to set himself up for life. I blame Lansdown and Danny Coles , Taylor not so much , footballer is a very short career.

Someone offers you double, triple your salary, you'd be off. Especially when it's all over when you hit 35. If you're lucky.

Big mistake if we let Ogogo leave IMO and back to worrying about Garner's naivety again if so.

Big mistake if we let Ogogo leave IMO and back to worrying about Garner's naivety again if so. I agree to a certain extent. I guess it depends if we've got anybody else lined up as a replacement? I liked Ogogo, the same with Sercombe, I rated him and he was a good player for us, but to progress sometimes you have to be ruthless if a chance to bring a better calibre of player is available, I think Zain Westbrooke is certainly an upgrade. I guess we'll wait and see.

Very disappointed by Ogogo. Same as I was disappointed by Sercombe. I do get it though, and I have been enthused by the signings this summer.
It’s a shame because I quite like watching a player like Abu make a crunching tackle and wrestle the lightweights off the ball.

Don't forget we've got Mehew at CM too. Looked decent against Farm on the weekend

Don't forget we've got Mehew at CM too. Looked decent against Farm on the weekend I think we do need to remember this was a team five leagues below us, who've not played in 5 months and were chasing round professionals in 28 degree heat.

Just a thought on players who are on good wages and do not want to leave because of reduced wages but do not look like they want to play / perform. As they are sitting on the "bench" and the end contract date gets nearer and nearer, they will probably be looking for more game time in order to sell themselves more? If it is obvious to a club that they are sitting there biding their time and costing them, maybe they should then just put them on gardening leave as a lesson. Further, a few words with the responsible agent wrt not looking on him favourably in any way in future may also help, especially if the agent has a few other players also with the club. The agent sits between the player and the club wrt contracts and financials; put some pressure on agents as well as players?

I agree with you lot, disappointed to see Ogogo leave. In the few times I watched the Gas last season, he was one of the few bright sparks and often got the crowd pumped. He's an energetic and committed character on and off the pitch, and our squad would be better with him in it.
Bennett, well I just hope another club actually manages to take him off our hands. His time with us has been ill fated, and he needs to go to refresh as he could go on to be relatively successful elsewhere.

You want to play silly buggers with us and a new contract threat with other clubs? Fine, stay at home for the next few weeks and see who turns up to see you play.
