Garner has confirmed that JCH missed tonight’s friendly because of a sickness bug. Has he played his last game in the quarters? Blimey, how serious is that bug?!

Leaving us with Mitchell-Lawson, Ayunga and Daly?! Pffffft. We’re already bereft of league quality strikers as it is even with JCH. We looked stronger there last season with Nichols and Reilly and that’s saying something. We simply cannot afford to sell JCH under any circumstances.

Agree 365, JCH is very important but the window doesn’t close until early October so there’s plenty of time and I don’t believe that we have recruited so well so far to then go and shoot ourselves in the foot and sell JCH without a replacement. I know what you mean about “can’t afford to sell him” but neither should we allow him to run his contract down like Tom L and risk losing him for nothing. I hope he stays but I’ll understand if he goes and we get a replacement. UTG!

Imo we need two players with a decent record of scoring goals in the league, we simply don’t have that with any of our forward apart from JCH and goal scorers being the most highly prized commodity in football they aren’t easy to come across. If we are in the position we are in it’s because we haven’t acted fast enough to provide a succession plan for JCH leaving us gambling on who his replacement will be. Not great.

From what I’ve just read his absence makes perfect sense , he along with Daly have a stomach bug and have been throwing up and they should be back on Thursday, why are people posting that he’s off ? I don’t get all the drama ...

If JCH doesn’t attract a really big offer I’d be inclined to keep him until his contract expires. In any event the ball is completely in his court - even if a good offer comes in he doesn’t have to go if he doesn’t fancy the club in question. We can’t sell him against his will. BTW don’t know how we’ve got into a debate about JCH’s departure purely because he has a stomach bug. Perhaps we should be discussing whether Rodman and Daly have played their last game too.

I've seen more in Ayunga and JML than Nichols and Reilly ever showed. In fact, JML probably scored as many league goals as both of them combined for the gas. Not saying JCH isn't important of course but your statement is inaccurate. Our attack is streets ahead of last year.

I may be naïve but i just accept what the manager has said and all being well he will be fit for next squad, his absence did give us the chance to try other options last night and in the second half especially we looked a lot mote threatening and lively up front, sometimes when you have a talisman , as JCH seems to be, you can get obsessed with playing every thing to and through him to the detriment of other options and other players, thought the big man up front grew in confidence as the game went on and the more he plays the better he will get.

Yes, from the moment he started scoring goals there’s been speculation, so it’s not great that it’s continually there. JCH always gives the impression that he’s jarred off even when he’s scoring but I think that’s part of him and comes with the player but if the renewal has been on the table and he hasn’t signed then I would question if he really wants to be here. And I always feel that if the player doesn’t really want to play for us then sell him for as much as we can get and replace. No player bigger than the club imo. I’d love him to stay but only if he really wants to. UTG!

Let’s hope Daly can become as important. UTG!

JCH has a stomach bug?
Perhaps that means he'll come back in better shape.

I think it's pretty clear that JCH was ill, but I think what all us fans are concerned about is that he has not signed a new contract and unless he is holding out for more money isn't desperate to stay here and we don't have much cover for him. When we signed him from Coventry GC did say that JCH wanted to play in the Championship again, if he leaves we need to make sure we have plenty of cover. That player we had on trial last night didn't look that good a defender but he had pace and an eye for goal I would give him at least one more go but play him in a more attacking position, it's worked before Gareth Taylor comes to mind.
