Been a weird few months, but after the signings, the releases, the debt write off, the colony development, the friendlies, are we all happy and looking forward to cracking on in a few weeks?

Are we in a better position now on and off the field than we were 6 months ago ,yes . Do I want us to be sustainable financially, yes. The trick will be to manage the transition from annual debt to a sustainable business model whilst maintaining our league position I am happy at the progress we have made π

More excited for the start of this season than I have been for many years.
No idea how weβll get on but fairly certain Iβll enjoy watching us play more this season, and at least weβre trying something a bit different & 100% committing to it.

Reasonably happy, yes.
We're definitely better off financially, obviously Wael basically removing the debt, and of course the Β£1M we got for JCH(Even though I feel he was worth a lot more).
The training ground progression is very good
The signings of Ehmer, Baldwin, Grant, Westbrooke, Nicholson and Tutonda are exciting, and have certainly improved the squad.
If we bring in a proper replacement for JCH and show some real intent on that front I might remove the "reasonably".

After last night I have to say I am pretty happy, I was not a gaffer fan but last night removed most of that. That was the best full game ( and some ) I have seen us produce for a long time, the young lads are very good and I think we have a few bob in the bank with these lads. They are our future, either in the quarters or sold on for good money. I guess a simple yes would have done. UTG.

Iβll be happy when we get a striker in. For all of the potential in our squad, the number of goals scored by our squad in league One is very low. That is a concern. If we donβt replace JCH and we canβt find the back of the net we will be in big trouble and we will only have ourselves to blame.

We've let an hell of a lot of experienced players leave, Craig, Ogogo, Sercs, OC, Nichols and JCH and replaced them with mainly inexperienced youngsters, apart from Ehmer, they could all gel and turn out to be fantastic signings or all struggle when it comes to league action. The big worry is our lack of experienced strikers particularly losing so goals a season JCH. With no obvious goal scorers in the squad and BG in charge it's more a case of being nervous about next season than happy for me, I really fear a relegation battle if young heads drop if lose games as we can't score a goal.

Sercombe was crap last year and I'm more excited to see Hargreaves and Mehew develop than I would have been to see Sercombe stay. In addition to the above we have signed Baldwin and Tutonda, Harries/Daly are practically new signings as they barely played between being signed and covid. And then finally the likes of Tomlinson and Walker seem to be knocking on the door and some. Experience wise we have Jaakkola, Ehmer, Baldwin, Little, Upson and Rodman all in the squad so I think we're fine in that department too. Sign a goal scorer who fits the system and we're looking in fantastic shape.

Seems like we're here now just to develop young players to sell on at a profit, if not, then surely BG would now be demanding that Wael invested at least half of the proceeds of JCH's sale in the squad, not suggesting he still needs to weigh up his options. After just 1 win out of 3 pre-season games v league opposition we're apparently already clearly stronger on the pitch than when GC walked out.

Looks like we have a stronger squad now, as long as we replace JCH. The manager could be the problem, but we can get rid of him if he's not working out. Loads of teams lost against lower league teams in friendlies. Swindon lost of a team a lot lower, today Cambridge best Ipswich in their last friendly. Portsmouth are 3 1 down to Stevenage in the cup today and their fans are having a meltdown already. Mansfield are 3 0 down in their first competitive game at half time, so GC or Rollin are not having the best starts. Too early to see conclusively if we are stronger or weaker. As I said I think we are stronger on paper. But I will wait until we have played atleast 5 competitive games, before starting to judge the squad that much.
