In another thread pasties were mentioned, and whilst the small Ginsters pasties are no where near as good as previous offerings, I do miss my match day pasty. So it got me thinking - in the Covid bo##ocks where I cant watch the Gas in person, what do I miss most of all?, and I came to the conclusion that I miss the whole experience:
The early morning expectations Getting to the pub for 12pm, a few pints and some water taking with the usual crew. The 2pm check on Twitter to see the team and the heated discussions that follow The walk to the Mem, and then the queue through the turnstiles. The quick rush to the loos as the seal is Brocken. Queue for the pasty followed by another quick water. Taking my usual spot and watching the warm ups, thinking why can’t they pass it like that in the game. The excitement intensity increases as the whistle at 3pm starts the match Choruses of Good Night Irene
For me the whole is greater than the sum of its parts- Saturdays just aren’t the same.
What do you miss the most?

Me time !
I love going to the Mem, especially night games, generally on my own to just chill out, have a pint and a sausage roll and get away from it all for a few hours

I gave up my season ticket last season due to having a baby, so doesn't feel very different to me. I watched on ifollow last season and am doing so this season.
I did want to take her to a game at some point though so I am missing that opportunity. Also the spontaneous opportunity to at least have the choice to go. I haven't seen a Rovers game live for over a year now which is weird.

I miss the buzz of being in a crowd of people, and singing and shouting without people thinking you're mental! We're lucky to have iFollow though, if this had happened 10 even 5 years ago we might not have been able to watch the games. There did seem to be a lot of Saturdays last season where the weather was awful too so it might sometimes seem like a blessing to be able to watch from home!

I miss feeling connected to it all. Football seems irrelevant these days when the only access to it is through a screen or on the radio.

I've missed elements but I'm still getting out to watch football here and abroad. Had a football trip to Prague in July and heading to Germany for some football this weekend. I more miss the freedom to travel around other countries to get in games.

I love going to The Mem, the crappy tents, every part of the ground looking different, watching from the East stand at the Thatchers in full voice, the superb playing surface.
My favourite footie experience has to be going away. The planning in the week before hand, picking up the match tickets from the Mem shop and having a browse through the merchandise, picking up the train tickets from Temple Meads.
Getting the sandwiches and snacks and drinks ready on Friday evening. Getting up early on Saturday, driving to Temple Meads and catching the train. On arrival at the host town/city making our way from the station towards the ground and finding a pub. Having a drink and chatting to the home fans before going to the ground. The buzz of anticipation before the teams come out. The singing and sense of belonging with the Gas fans throughout the game, and the occasional elation when we win.
Christ I miss football!

I miss the atmosphere of standing on the terraces and cheering on my club. The lads on site today were talking about how it’s not the same seeing empty stands and that the fake crowd noise makes it slightly better but it’s not quite the same. All I was thinking is how I couldn’t give a monkeys what it looks like to a bunch of Arsenal , Man Utd etc armchair fans watching Sky Sports. I’ve been a season ticket holder for 35 years and having it taken away from me has hit me hard mentally. It feels like a huge part of me is missing I’m not ashamed to admit it.

You’re definitely not alone in feeling that way. Not being able to meet up with friends/family & watch Rovers has almost taken away some of my identity.

Being involved with running Newquay AFC and the work that involves, I just miss going to watch Gas where I can just watch a game, have a drink and not get hassled to do something. It's a place I go to to escape life and I know nobody will find me. I actually don't know anybody in Bristol, so it's some good quality me time.

I'm missing the excitement of knowing I'll be attending a Rovers home game a couple of days beforehand. Meeting up with mates on a match day and just having a natter. The atmosphere of it all, streaming through the memorial gates, buying a program, wearing a scarf, Goodnight Irene being belted out, home vs away fan camaraderie etc. The pure emotions that run through you throughout the 90 minutes, you don't get that on the couch. Picking up things that the camera misses like dugout antics, off the ball challenges, substitutes warming up. The sooner it all returns the better really, football just isn't the same without it.

I live alone and although I work during the week, weekend are usually quite lonely. So I miss the company of my fellow Gasheads.

Best comment I’ve read on here in a very long time. Totally describes how I feel, really struggling to see football at the moment other than a training session or a pre season friendly.
