Probably the right decision. There has been an improvement on the 2nd half of last season, but the home form has still been poor and there's been a couple of heavy defeats in there. Hopefully with Widdrington staying as head of recruitmentand a bit of an infrastructure we can sort out the bad parts of our play without having a complete overhaul.
All the best Ben, seems like a decent bloke but it never worked out.

Feel for him really, I imagine he's crushed. Really hoped we'd turned a corner when we put together 4 wins and a draw from 5 but we have taken three steps backward since then. That being said, very glad we've acted early because we're being dragged into a relegation battle at the moment. There's time to not only save the season from disaster but actually have a go at the play-offs if we bring the right manager in. He's seems like a nice bloke, so very different situation to Buckle for example. Wish him well but not convinced he'll ever be successful in football management. Hopefully he proves me wrong

Wow really wasn’t expecting that.
Touché to Wael & Starnes, I thought they’d drag this out a lot longer tbh.
Good luck in future Ben, right idea but poor execution I’m afraid

Strange feeling, I really wanted BG to work out and he does genuinely seem like a nice man. I also feel sad because I know he’s just moved his family down here which is another kick in the teeth for them, however results haven’t been good enough sadly.

Lee Johnson lined up to come in With Respect, Little Johnson could be the ideal man.Same vision as wael, based in the area.Maybe a point to prove to Pantsdown... With the advantage of having no fans watching for quite some time to come.

He did what he thought was best and stuck to his guns which is commendable. I can’t see him getting another job as a manager though. Totally out of his depth. All the best for future Ben. Can you imagine the awkward silence as his CV arrives and the receiving chairman works out his win ratio. He’ll probably do alright in the long term as a coach. No chance of him getting a managerial gig, even at a lower level. Anyway enough about Garner. Fair play to the board for showing some gumption I didn’t know they had. There is obviously some ambition in our board room and it’s good to see. They’ll go up even further in my estimation if they make a statement of intent with our next manager. I’d prefer that to an expensive star striker in fact.

I hate this period of speculation on the forum coming up. Whoever takes over has a decent squad IMO. Should be interesting.

Quite simply the correct decision. Glad that Wael has acted so quickly. Think it also speaks volumes that Wael wants to get it right and this wasn’t working.....

Well done Wael. Next appointment crucial, but there should be some decent candidates to choose from. I said before, we have a quality, young squad. I look forward to our next manager coming in as he has a outstanding based to build from.

The kiss of death was this morning's Evil Post story on "Who is Ben Garner", makes the club's love child who wrote it look stupid now as well. Put your money on Widdrington getting the job full time, after all he brought all the players in.

I was really hoping he could turn things around and I'm disappointed it didnt happen but looking at his record overall I dont think he can have any real complaints. I'm surprised its happened now but fair play to the board, they've given him time to get things right and have also acted to still give the new manager plenty of this season. It didnt work out but good luck Ben whatever the future holds

I saw that against Stevenage when I stood behind the dugout in tin pot u23s trophy game last season in one of his first game's in charge. Emotionless, uninspiring and clueless.
