Widdrington is in charge for Wednesday's Chelsea game. Can we get out loan players back? I am thinking of a tough tackling midfielder

I wonder what sort of compensation Walsall would want?

He's relieved? How does he think we feel? Ok, he's gone now. No need to be a d1ck about it. Agreed, stay classy Gasheads. Bloke has lost his job, just like you wanted - not saying it's the wrong decision, but no need to revel in it, surely? Best of luck to Ben in the future, I think he's left the club with a decent squad of players for the next person to work with.

Personally think this is a harsh and rash decision..... he’s been really unfortunate

I was really hoping he could turn things around and I'm disappointed it didnt happen but looking at his record overall I dont think he can have any real complaints. I'm surprised its happened now but fair play to the board, they've given him time to get things right and have also acted to still give the new manager plenty of this season. It didnt work out but good luck Ben whatever the future holds 100% what I feel.

Quite simply the correct decision. Glad that Wael has acted so quickly. Not quick enough !! Nice guy but out of his depth hope he finds a coaching job soon . Just hope that poisoned dwarf from across the river stays away ! Like Paddy Kenny said one of the biggest t@&ts in football

The kiss of death was this morning's Evil Post story on "Who is Ben Garner", makes the club's love child who wrote it look stupid now as well. Put your money on Widdrington getting the job full time, after all he brought all the players in. Widdrington has been saying before he doesn't want to be first team manager so don't think he'll be the permanent appointment.

Surprised me that Chris Hargreaves has not been put in charge for the short term or for that matter Lee Mansel

Very surprised at this. Didn't believe it when a mate messaged me!
I wonder if there is anyone lined up as the recent impression rovers have given is one that always has long term planning in mind. I'll be interested to see the longer statement from the club when it comes out.
A good squad assembled this summer and it will be interesting to see how the players react as most if not all cited Garner in their welcome interviews (although that may be modern interview fluff).
Good luck Ben in the future. I'm sure he'll pick up a coaching job.

Very surprised at that. Now the forum has it's way we can stop with all this passing on the floor sh**e. Nothing like loosing four one at home and passing pretty triangles back to the Conference.

I mean, this whole GC to Mansfield thing really worked out for everyone didn’t it?

My son said after the half time substitutions that BG was desperate to win this game.

I think Garner comes across as a nice guy, and he's a good coach.
Unfortunately it hasn't worked out for him or us.
Wish him all the best for the future, he'll probably go on to be a good manager somewhere else.
Shame Nigel Clough has been snapped up by Mansfield as I would've liked him here.
We should go all out and try and get Paul Cook, that's if he'll even be interested.

No one can say Wael doesn’t back his manager or isn’t patient with them.
100% the right decision

I certainly don’t have any ill feelings to the guy. He did what he thought was best and stuck to his guns which is commendable. I can’t see him getting another job as a manager though. Totally out of his depth. All the best for future Ben. Can you imagine the awkward silence as his CV arrives and the receiving chairman works out his win ratio. He’ll probably do alright in the long term as a coach. No chance of him getting a managerial gig, even at a lower level. Anyway enough about Garner. Fair play to the board for showing some gumption I didn’t know they had. There is obviously some ambition in our board room and it’s good to see. They’ll go up even further in my estimation if they make a statement of intent with our next manager. I’d prefer that to an expensive star striker in fact. I think the infrastructure (or the start of it) is finally beinging to be put into place. And I think that's even down to the mindset of our board. No doubt the ambition has been shown, debts cleared, training ground built, and the quality of young players recruited.Even the time given to the BG project. But it's an impressive move by our board today as it clearly wasn't working and they saw that and acted.

Gutted tbh, I was really happy with the things he was attempting to do. unfortunately he just wasn’t getting it right on the pitch. I think we could well end up look back at his time here fondly tho, I think a new manager might just get the best out of some of Garner’s very promising signing... maybe

I would be happy with Lee Mansell & Chris Hargreaves taking over.
