Has he really improved us? Where are the positives?

He has picked up less points in 13 games than Garner did!
We look like a team without the needed fighting spirit for a relegation scrap.
Not necessarily his fault but I am scratching my head over his line up formations over the last 2 games.
We are definitely poor enough to go down, and if we don’t we have a massive re building job to do in the summer.
Worrying time

I want him to succeed, I really do, but I, and others questioned his record at league one level. Not only that but I was shocked to hear the opinions of Exeter fans who seemed to be fed up of him. I have to say I don’t know where he has got his vaunted reputation from based on what we have seen but, most importantly, from the views of fans of his former clubs. It seems that there is the media Paul Tisdale who plays good attacking progressive football and is all about bringing through youth and the actual Paul Tisdale who picks nonsensical teams/formations with an emphasis on defence and then brings on more defenders when chasing a game. I wonder how much research the board actually did when hiring him.
So no, I don’t believe in a thing called Paul Tisdale but do we trust this board to hire anyone better? I don’t. My prediction is Tisdale will be here next season and he’ll be given time to get us promoted from league two.

Not everyone's cup of tea I get that but i don't believe we would be in the situation we are in now if we hadn't jumped the gun and sacked him in my opinion too quickly. He was bought in to reshape the club and some of the recruitment was questionable but I sensed the players enjoyed playing for him I get the sense some of these don't really buy into PT

Clearly we’re worse. There’s no need to over complicate things.
He does seem to be a thoroughly nice bloke.
He does have a poor record at our level, proven over quite a few years.
It really isn’t rocket science. It’s not Tisdales fault, any blame lies at the feet of Starnes, the man responsible for managing the club in it’s entirety. Btw some may remember him as the man that shuffles out every now and again to mumble something about the clubs DNA.
I think it’s about time Wael cleared out the hangers on and went with his gut feeling rather than rely on some bang average employee’s

As much as I feel Tisdale was also the wrong choice it’s beginning to look like his most damaging legacy at the club is giving Garner supporters the excuse to argue that he was actually a decent manager! At the end of the day, no matter how it goes here Tisdale would still have an outside chance of getting another job, probably in league two. Garner will never manage another league club as long as he has a hole in his arse because he isn’t a manager.

Brendon Rodgers etc were dismissed from their first job, who knows what will happen in the future, BG may well think to himself he screwed up last summer and learn from his mistakes. I suppose his away record before he was dismissed, compared to PT's recent away form suggests, he did have something about him. The big mistake was Wael/Starnes expecting a rookie manager to completely reshape the squad & style of play plus plan the training ground development etc.

The big mistake was Wael/Starnes expecting a rookie manager to completely reshape the squad & style of play plus plan the training ground development etc. Football is a results oriented business, Garner’s record shows that he took a winning team to the dogs and then followed that up with a handful of results during a bit of a purple patch before going back to losing ways and being dismissed. That’s not a good look and that’s just the paper version. Moving off paper into the nuts of bolts of what happened won’t help matters when prospective employers read about the board’s feeling that there wasn’t enough progress being made in learning the ropes, then when they look at the squad he put together and how unbalanced it was they will most likely screw his CV up and throw it in the bin. Let’s not forget the guy at one point was on course to have the worst record out of any manager in the football league ever- and that was with a winning team! If anything he was a very lucky boy to be given some of this season to clean his record up a bit. No chairman is going to want to hire him just because he fluked the odd decent win, eg against Lincoln and Sunderland, those were the only notable results he achieved in almost a calendar year. If his next job is in management at football league level I’ll eat my hat. The man will be viewed as a disaster.

Tisdales experience in Division one is too limited to save us. We are going down, but on the bright side, he supports the project.

BG might have done OK with a wise head as Assistant manager, not Lennie Lawrence but that type of character. Someone to guide him through the tough times. As someone says above, we shouldn’t have given him the responsibility to overhaul a reasonable sized League One team. My understanding is that he is a very good coach and we bought players to coach, improve and sell on. PT is putting the experienced players in and I’m not sure he will be coaching an improvement in individual players. I don’t know that of course but the impression I get. The tactic is that older heads will see us through. Perhaps it’s what he feels he needs to do short term to stay up but it doesn’t seem to be working. I can’t see another change of manager will happen or work tbh, I think the club will the season out with PT come what may.

We were doing fine until we lost both Nicholson and Otzumer - 2 players BG seemed reluctant to play. It's no surprise to me that without these two we look like we did before Tisdale came in.

We don't seem to have cover for those two (and add Daly in that too) so have no creativity going forward. With no pressure up front, the opposition have the advantage and invariably we start a goal down, psychology at least. I get the impression that Tisdale is trying not to lose while we wait for these three to return and get in that illusive striker. If we do, then great, I think we'll get back to winning ways and then regroup in the summer. If we don't get in the striker and those three remain out for a good while longer, then I see us struggling big time.

Agreed, Oztumer seems to bring out the best of Westbrook also. I find Westbrooke frustrating. He's clearly very talented, and does some great things, but when he really needs to deliver something he often falis. There were 2 examples on Saturday - one in each half. In the first half he got beyond their defence on the right wing, cut into the box and had all the time in the world to pick a cross - but absolutely fluffed it. In the second half Ayunga flicked it on to Hanlan who played it into Westbrooke's path as ran beyond their defence and you're thinking - go on - shoot - find a pass - something! But again, he just gave the ball away trying to find Hanlan with a simple pass. Hopefully with experience he will recognise when he has to fully concentrate and make sure he gets it right.

If Tisdale isn't the answer surely there needs to be questions asked of those who appointed first Garner and Tisdale?

Worrying time For those who love a “give him ten games” Tisdale’s first 10 was better than Garner’s first 10 (both Garner’s first 10 last season and his first 10 this season). It’s after the first 10 (when covid struck iirc) that Tisdale’s record declines.

If Tisdale isn't the answer surely there needs to be questions asked of those who appointed first Garner and Tisdale? In the last year we’ve gone from chasing promotion to fighting relegation involving the hire of (at least) two new managers along the way. There needs to be serious questions asked from top to bottom.
