Gnanduillet signing for Hearts shows how hard it is for us to bring in a new striker now. Our summer transfer activity has cost us big time and it’s harder than ever to put right.
Seen a lot of moaning about the club not bringing in a new striker, but I think most are forgetting the rule changes that happened a few months ago.
Now the average new player is going to be on £1700, which is probably less than half than most decent strikers in this league. Unfortunately any good agent, is going to take his player’s to other countries if possible, to get a pay day.
Gnanduillet wouldn’t have ended up at Hearts in the past.
We needed to sign another striker in the summer. We could have paid them more then.
Garner has done us over big time. Signing 4 left backs and only 3 strikers .
It’s not just us who are struggling due to the rule change. Over time, every club will be in the same situation and it will level the playing field. But we had to do our business in the summer, like every other club did.
Think we will end up bringing in a loan striker. But Tisdale only likes to sign loan players, if he has to.

We definitely need someone. If two of Nicholson, Daly and Oz could stay fit, I think we will be ok anyway. But an extra striker would give us more options. Plus Nicholson can play out wide, when needed as well.

We have to get Ayunga on and up there tonight, Hanlan would be much better feeding off him then competing with 6ft 3 league 1 monster centre backs IMO. Ayunga needs experience and minutes if he is going to be called upon to do what this elusive transfer is required to do if we fail to get one. we have these MUST WIN matches coming up soon

Very good points Daniel. We are not in this mess due to the rule change tho, it’s due to the shambles during the summer. People moan about Tisdale, he wasn’t my choice, but you can line up the ingredients any way you like, if there are no Roast Potatoes, you ain’t got a Roast Dinner.

Hearts are a much bigger club with us, with a bigger budget. Sure they're in the Championship this season but there is no comparison to be had with us.

They have a bigger budget due to the rule change. But I doubt they would have before it. Not saying he would have signed for us anyway. Think he would have went to Sunderland or another club after a striker. But Hearts can pay more than them now. Especially when the player is a free agent. As the agent normally wants a pay day as well as the player. Don’t think hearts would have beat a number of league 1 clubs to him last season.

There is quite literally no excuse to play max Ehmer at wing back and Baldwin in centre midfield. He had options for round pegs in round holes here and chose to have SIX yes thats SIX defenders on the pitch when 1-0 down and chasing a goal. Yea he is short in the attacking areas but there are options available who would be better than playing it how he did

Hearts maybe a bigger club, and certainly in the Scottish Championship, its the equivilent of Norwich being in our Championship. But I cant imagine for one moment that they would be able to pay anything more than a L1 club can offer. If they were in the SPL it might be a slightly different matter.

Don’t think he wanted to start the new right back, as he didn’t know the squad yet. Agree with Baldwin. Think he must have been hoping to get a goal from a set piece 😂. To be fair our two best chances came playing that way. Still think we wouldn’t have done that with Upson in midfield and with key player’s further forward.

Mate Ehmer is ok at right back but not at wing back, he stifled a load of our play in and around the box at Crewe and it was the same against Oxford. Round pegs in round holes to give yourself a chance. It’s basics which is what he done when he first came here but it looks like a poor attempt to be clever

Hare got taken off when struggling the last time he started. Little is never fit.

Both managers have dealt with injuries and players not available. Both records are crap but Tis is currently slightly poorer against worse teams. For the record I am not saying we should have kept Ben...merely pointing out it really hasn’t got better

Mate you can dress it up how you want but Rodman Little Hare All better options at Wing back than a tanker Centre half. Hargreaves or Barrett better options at Centre Mid than Baldwin
