Come on he’s trying to be positive and hopefully we can do this UTG oldie 😊 Problem is we don't need all this ground breaking/bus nonsense. Barton's job is simply to keep us in L1, he doesn't need to break any new ground or be on a bus he just needs to make sure we finish outside the bottom 4. Barton knows full well the main thing we need to do on Saturday is avoid defeat, anything else is a bonus. Lose and our season could well be over. Is that the same bottom four that he put us in with his five straight defeats? Character is everything, he says, as he punches his way out of a self-inflicted corner.

I hope he is right and we can stay in the league.
I detest the guy and want him out, he talks a good game but hasn't walked the walk so far.
What is it?
Played 12 Won 3 Lost 8 Drawn 1
10 points in 12 games.
That's about 38 points over the season. He needs to improve that very quickly (I hope he does). However he is not the mesiah, he is a very naughty boy.

Rich is a poster of old and has a very uniquely positive style. Yes, it may fit the “mindless optimism” camp but there’s nothing wrong with optimism. I’d take ten of these over the usual cynical nonsense It began I believe with the original GBG thread in 2014 I believe There’s nothing wrong with optimism but there’s nothing wrong with people saying they don’t share said optimism. Neither point of view is embarrassing. On the contrary, optimism is a good thing. Pessimism is a bad thing. If this was a workplace I would have fired half of you and promoted Rich to team leader. In the dugouts it would have been Rich rallying the troops and the rest of you bitching about your sergeant. So in effect, the pessimists are responsible for desertion, cowardice, and essentially the loss of the free world, the rise of Hitler, fascism, communism, polio, diphtheria and computer viruses. This isn’t opinion, it’s fact. We await your apology.

“I can’t speak highly enough of the gaffer and his staff,” McCormick said. “They’ve been brilliant, them and the remaining staff.
“They’ve brought a real infectious energy and tapped into places I’ve not really been before. It’s been a whirlwind but we just need to keep going now and make sure we repay that faith that everyone has put in us.
“In terms of, as a man, and how he’s connected with us on a human level, it was something that was needed and he’s put confidence into people.
“He’s given everyone an opportunity, nobody feels out of it and I feel there’s a real togetherness and that’s what they’ve brought.
“Him and his staff have been different class with every single body in this building. It feels like we’re a brotherhood and we’re all going out to fight and win for each other.”

Pirate, there is always a player praising a new manager! And what’s wrong with that? Perhaps he’s speaking for all the players?

A kick up the ass is what this club has needed.

I remember Mark Little saying something similar about life under Garner
Hardly going to say it’s all poo, can’t be arsed, rather be in Millwall is he?
The proof as always will be in the pudding. A nice big juicy Dorset apple pie with cream which is now only 6 games long.
Lots of players now realising their careers are on the line, the big question is perhaps not their desire, more are they bloody good enough!
Go prove it lads.

I think that Joey Barton is going about his management style waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay differently to almost all managers and trying to instill confidence and remove fear and doubt. I have learned that JB is really quite spiritual and have adopted some of his wellbeing ideas myself. I know that wont be for everyone but sounds like the lads have pretty much bought into it. Hopefully with another week of training both mentally and on the grass, we can continue this aggressive and progressive footballing style into Saturday and add another big win to the history books, setting our intent to those around us UTG

Pirate, there is always a player praising a new manager! Yes but McCormack is not looking for a new contract like others. He can say it as he sees it as he will be gone onto better things soon.

This isn’t opinion, it’s fact. We await your apology. The loss of the free world was partly due to over optimism wasn’t it? The French thinking their maginot line was indestructible and the Germans would never get round it. Chamberlain thinking he’d secured peace with Hitler. Many a bad business decision has been caused by over optimism. Tesco’s expansion into the American market ect. Optimism and realism are both useful attributes to have, to know when encouragement is needed and to know when you’ve got to take a step back and have a look at the bigger picture. That’s why I said no argument is wrong or embarrassing.

Pirate, there is always a player praising a new manager! "Place is like a different club since they came in" - a quote from one of our players, in a conversation which wasn't a media interview. Whatever us fans may think, JB and co are relating very well to the players, and there's a lot of positivity in the dressing room now. UTG - let's get behind 'em.

"The meetings we have with him and the way he speaks, his energy is inspiring. Every time I go out to train we usually have a meeting before an I always feel motivated to go and work my hardest. He’s been really influential for me" said Pablo Martinez.

I said when JB came in that I wasnt a fan of his moral standards as a person, his blotted copy book doesnt sit well with me, but its how he conducts himself as a Rovers employee that will determine how much we take to him or not.
But from a footballing perspective, his credentials as an ex player are superior to anyone in management we have had since Holloway who also played at the highest level. He has proven to translate that into management by getting Fleetwood into the play offs last year, who probably, by rights, on a normal season conclusion, would have been promoted automatically. They were the in form team at the time and it would have been close between them and p'boro.
Just on that basis alone its a decent appointment and far superior to the Tisdale one which should never have happened to begin with.
His record so far hasnt been great from a statistical match winning perspective, but the tools hes inherited are half worn out or broken. But hes got us fighting a lot harder with a bit more passion and that will be crucial in the run.
