Fairplay decent interview:
However a little annoyed that mid-table was season's aim.

Mid-table L1?
We can but dream of such dizzy heights.

Looked so sad.Imagine a player choosing Charlton over us!!!! Dead right we were light up front and lacked physicality.Pity BG didn't see it that way back in August. Referees partly to blame too.

Fairplay decent interview: However a little annoyed that mid-table was season's aim. Seems to me that blaming PT2 was not the right thing to do, when the player did not want to come here. Widdrington has the brief to present players and then talk with the manager and decide on that. To say there was little choice is not true, there are and were other options, why did we not take a punt. What do you think pirate ?

Did I hear him right when he said we need to review our recruitment process?

If I was PT taking that job in November, id have been working closely to secure a striker in January from Day 1. Clearly evident that was a priority yet we (presumably) go after Stockley near the end of the window with nobody else in the frame? Suicidal. Oxford signed 2 strikers on deadline day, both scored against us in PTs last game. Both would walk into our team. Niall Ennis signed for Plymouth in January (also scored against us funnily enough...twice). Blackpool signed Simms in January too, maybe another one who will score against us? Strikers were available we just didn't look hard enough.

The other option was Gnandulliett, for whatever reason, we didnt fancy him. Once the window shut there were no viable options decent enough than what we had.

For what it’s worth mid table strikes me as a perfectly reasonable target when you’re upheaving the side so much.
But when your CEO admits to being concerned at the outset we don’t have enough goals then you have to recognise something has gone wrong somewhere.
Martyn - buck stops with you as CEO. You need to challenge your recruitment and management staff if they naively believe an inadequate squad to be sufficient to challenge.
Especially after the way 19/20 ended.

If you fail to get your first choice targets then move on down the list. There were 8 matches and 24 points to play for in January and we should have had options to come in towards the start of the window, not leaving it to the last minute. Even if we couldn't manage to secure a striker, we should have been looking to increase our goalscoring options in other areas of the pitch. Look at the positive impacts of Harry Chapman at Shrewsbury, Matt O'Riley at MK Dons, Josh Sims at Doncaster and Olly Lee at Gillingham for example.

Sadly 99% of them have been nowhere near their intended target.

Did I hear him right when he said we need to review our recruitment process? Yes. He said we need to review it and then that the manager should choose the players but then that they always have. Work that one out. To me, thats covering for fellow board member Widdrington and hanging BG out to dry basically. Either way at least manager gets more say next time even if it is Barton. I hope his recruitment is better than he has demonstrated his leadership skills to be.

More worrying Is the revelation that we were prepared to pay 50% more in wages for a player who still chose to go elsewhere in the same division. The other lad from Luton didn’t want to come here either .

He’ll have still got his full Preston wage throughout the loan, looks like Risdale did Bowyer a favour

We need Geoff 20man or someone to ask him some proper questions and challenge him on the answers. Didn't learn anything new from that and to just say "lessons have been learnt" isn't good enough.
