Did I hear him right when he said we need to review our recruitment process? Yes. He said we need to review it and then that the manager should choose the players but then that they always have. Work that one out. To me, thats covering for fellow board member Widdrington and hanging BG out to dry basically. Either way at least manager gets more say next time even if it is Barton. I hope his recruitment is better than he has demonstrated his leadership skills to be. It did feel like he was trying to pass the buck onto Garner and away from Widdrington, especially with his comments that it was Garner who thought we had enough goals in the squad. Sounds to me like Widdrington will stay on as head of recruitment and as a board member, but the director of football role will be abolished.

Hope we come back in for Hylton this summer, exactly the sort of striker we’ll need IMO.

Stockley signed for Charlton on 22/1 so plenty of time to look elsewhere.
Rumour is Stockley left Tisdale a voicemail saying he’d sign for us but Tisdale didn’t respond....

This is not the first time you have banged the drum for Hamer Jock. I really dont understand why. He was terrible for our club and I am so happy he was finally shown the door.

The amount we paid won’t have had any play in Stockleys decision. He’ll have still got his full Preston wage throughout the loan, looks like Risdale did Bowyer a favour But the fact is we were prepared to pay 50% extra ! I don’t see an issue with that myself, he’s probably on about 8 k a week at Preston and to preserve our league one status we offered a decent wedge to try and get our main target in on a short term deal. Not like it was a 3 year deal or anything like that

Starner said on August that this was the best squad since we got promoted. Widdrington said that there were goals in the team whan they sacked PT

If Starnes was concerned about our lack of Strikers and physical attributes of the squad at the start of the season he should have acted on it at the time. Tales of woe long after the event is unacceptable. He has failed and should resign.

Shouldn't the title of this thread read "CEO speaks Bollox?"

About time we had someone, with the balls to say it. Agree, I just wish he hadn't said it whilst we still had points to play for and a chance of avoiding relegation, because, you know, we can see how that worked out cant we.

Starner said on August that this was the best squad since we got promoted. Widdrington said that there were goals in the team whan they sacked PT And when Widdrington took temporary charge and PICKED the team they scored and won. 3 mangers failed to get anyone to score Widdrington did, must be a story there if only.

Not so great at Gillingham , missed chances , conceded poor goals , just the same as all the other managers we had this season. PT and JB had good wins scoring four at Wimbledon and four against Accrington.

Tales of woe long after the event is unacceptable. He has failed and should resign. A slippery slope if a CEO starts over ruling managers and recruitment staff by choosing and signing players ? It sounds like there were concerns of the squad being lightweight and short of goals but the man entrusted with the managers job thought otherwise. Having appointed a manager they had to trust him and back him.

More worrying Is the revelation that we were prepared to pay 50% more in wages for a player who still chose to go elsewhere in the same division. The other lad from Luton didn’t want to come here either . The amount we paid won’t have had any play in Stockleys decision. He’ll have still got his full Preston wage throughout the loan, looks like Risdale did Bowyer a favour If Preston were £1000’s per week better off by letting Stockley come to us surely that would have been Risdales preferred choice. If Stockley says he wants to go to Charlton (even if they are paying less) Preston would have had little option - they could have said Rovers or nothing but if Stockley then digs his heels in and stays, tying up budget and hindering Prestons own recruitment plans.
