For me, if guilty of slapping/punching a fellow professional then cheerio cheerio cheerio, but then again if that mattered wael wouldn't have employed him the the first place. So clearly these sort of things don't bother wael.

When he joined there were lots of posts stating that his misdemeanours were in the past and he was innocent until proven guilty. I’m curious how people will feel if he is found guilty whilst at work in his previous job, while representing the club, assaulting another team’s manager. It would therefore mean he was both guilty and it was a current offence. Regardless of whether he spends any time inside, if found guilty, how would people feel? Bl00dy good question that and a dilemna if ever there was one, even though i am firmly in the JB camp i think a custodial would give the club no choice, community service maybe some leeway as the offence was committed before being employed by BRFC, though there would be some adverse publicity for sure. Personally i am surprised it has got this far next it will be players scrapping on the field in court I'm probably from a different generation to a lot on here ,but in my day it would have been a scrap you took the consequences you moved on and would have been embarrassed if it became legal, probably some will argue thats not right but hey ho.

Worst he would get is a suspended sentence, he won't go down for that. Look i had the sh** beat out of me 2 years ago and bloke admitted it and got off with a slapped wrist, yes i have no faith in the law so i fully expect him to get away with a fine, which no doubt the club will be happy to pay

Are there any witnesses to the alleged assault or CCTV ? If there isnt surely he will walk free . All this must be know to the club when JB was taken on. If things start to look a bit iffy he can always call on Ched Evans as a character witness.

This is what the court will attempt to find out....

If he shows remorse then no. But can anyone believe any inconsistent word that he speaks?

Do you not think the club didn't consider all possibility's before appointing him ? seems to be a few on here that wont give him a chance, but I think Joey is here to stay until xmas at least and if we are anywhere near the play offs, he will see out the season. Season ticket sells already around 2,000 following relegation shows a lot of people are behind him. He’s here long term for at least 3 months of the season? What would you consider short term?

I think if he does found guilty, he’s gone. The club will have examined all the possibilities and accepted the risk he might get a prison sentence in the summer, the gamble was that he might keep us up before then or he won’t get found guilty and he’ll be able to continue. I think the fact he hasn’t permanently relocated to the area speaks volumes.

It wouldn't surprise me if Barton pleaded guilty at the start of the trial if that is the case.

Our most successful manager even, PPG wise, didn't seem to suffer with his family living in S. Yorks.

Why would he do that, he has already pleaded not guilty and his defence will be fully aware of any witnesses etc. Interestingly a Barnsley player posted a tweet at the time claiming it was a bloodbath. That was quickly taken down as there wasn't any blood. The only injury that Stendal had was a chipped tooth sustained when he was pushed over, Hardly the sort of injury you would expect from a violent assault.

Yes, if you discount the fact that he left the club because he was suffering being so far away from his family

I will be keeping everything crossed that JB attends court and leaves with as small a punishment as is possible as we need him fully focused for pre season.
Anyone who wants him ‘ put away’ and we start looking for a new manager that late and the people who caused the issue get away with it only to repeat it again really need to look at the bigger picture and just what could happen.

Sorry but I just don't understand this comment. I am fully behind Barton and hoping that he is innocent, however if he is found to be guilty then I hope he gets what is deserved. Just because he's a Bristol Rovers manager shouldn't mean we hope he gets less punishment for assault than anyone else. I believe in Joey as our manager, but if he's guilty then his position is untenable and I would seriously consider my attendance and purchasing of merchandise next season. We can hire him in the full knowledge of his previous record, fine. But to be found guilty of assault on a fellow manager will be another level.

Can you give me a link to the article which confirms the only injury suffered was a chipped tooth, as all the press articles at the time suggested Stendel required dental treatment for damage to two front teeth.
